Prime World, developed by Nival Interactive, is one of the latest entries into the growing MOBA genre. But it's more than just a MOBA at the same time. In our latest review, we take a look at Prime World to see how it stacks up to the competition. Read on and then leave us your thoughts in the comments.
And then we have Prime World, developed by Nival. It’s not an MMO, nor is it a MOBA. It’s a combination of no less of than four different genres. You have persistent hero development, the likes of which you’d find in any standard RPG; single player, story-driven battles; frantic PvP MOBA action, and a building sim. Yes, when you’re not busy slaughtering your foes, you’ll be occupied by building your city and castle, and gathering resources to ensure you can continue your quest for the greatest architecture in all the land. You can team up with friends, and take part in some fun faction warfare, fighting for either The Dakht Imperium or the Keepers of Ardonia. You can also go up against your faction, should the mood strike you so. As with most games of this kind, there is a backstory to the whole thing, but it definitely takes a backseat to the immediate action.

Comments
I couldn't disagree with this review more.
It seems it's writen after the author played the game 5 minutes and without even trying to understand what was going on.
Both positive and negative points are so wrong it's hard even to start to explain.
GAMEPLAY:
The "quest-based system similar to what you’d find in Facebook" is an extended tutorial to explain you various aspect of the castle and push you to try some of the game modes. Giving you, in the process some rewards, like a free hero and some resources.
It's limited to just some quests and then is out of the picture for good.
The talents are not just skill, are both skills and equipments mixed up, if you can't understand how they work I don't see how you can understand how items work in other mmoba, since most of them are pratically the same of things.
You need to create your hero build before the game, by equiping talents, and then you can unlock skills/items with the primes you gain while in game.
You gain talents by receiving them as reward after a game or by crafting them in the castle.
You can like or dislike this system but it sure is more innovative than native land, since it adds a rpg progression to the game.
INNOVATION:
Really???
Of all MOBAs this is the one that try to add something new 3/10 is ludicrously low.
The zuma game assessment is totally wrong...
First of all saying: "It’s an odd decision, to be sure, and aside from winning small amounts of Prime, there is no reason for this to exist.""
It's like saying that jungling in MOBAs has no reason to exist. By playing zuma a support hero can let a carry to solo lane so he can get more primes.
Not only this by playing zuma you craft scrolls (healing, blinding, aoe bonus, aoe dmg and so on) and they gives a huge advantage to your team.
AESTHETICS:
This is personal taste, nothing to say.
POLISH:
I find the game polished at a first look but it sill has lot of rough edges, but this is still a beta so not a big deal.
SOCIAL:
The cost to create a clan is high, but far from an issue.
The game has a really low population and this is the main issues of this game, because of the lack of players the match macking system often fails.
It's not rare to find yourself in total biased match where you can see who is going to win from the loading screen. It's important to note that the game has only ranked games, so this is a really frustrating issue.
From what they says on forum they are going to relase the game on steam soon and they belive that the influx of new players will fix this.
At the moment 6/10 in this aspect is way to generous.
LONGEVITY:
I'm not sure about this, I can only guess that if they don't fix the match making system soon, lot of players will not stick around and without players a MMOBA can't survive.
VALUE:
Yes the game doesn't force you to buy a single thing. You can unlock heroes with in game currency like in almost every other moba.
This being said newer heroes cost is so ridicolously high that will take a lot of time to unlock them without at least using Golden Age.
(Golden Age is a sort of premium subscription, activating it will gives double rewards from games and from castle production.)
Not to mention there is a vigor system that work really well as money sink (for in game currency).
So even under this aspect 10/10 is far too generous.
Also the fact that the author said ”There isn’t much new in Prime World that you haven’t seen in other games, as it is very basic MOBA fare…" for the innovation part is ludicrous. Why is a MOBA getting a lower score for being a... MOBA? This game definitely tried to do some different things to be unique so giving it a lower score for being a MOBA is ridiculous. It's like giving an MMO a lower score for being an MMO.
Smile
This is easily one of the weirdest reviews I've read here.
The scores are somewhat outrageous considering the points made and obvious lack of time invested. If this was a "First Look" I would understand, but it's not - It's a review.
Perhaps ask players who are more experienced whether or not something is useless in the game or maybe tips on the very simple (initially) talent system. No equipment/gear? That's what the talents are! It translates perfectly! Hahaha do you place a con on every other MOBA that says "No talent system". They serve the same purpose.
I didn't want to comment too much on this because the list is too long.
Hm, I don't know what game did the writer played!
I mean ... "Lack of equipment/gear" ? Really? Wow, this game has the best gear system from all of the moba with hundreds of artifacts to chose and equip and you call it "lack of..." ?
I have played it a lot in since they released Open Beta, and I am telling you, this game is so good and refreshing. The only problem , right now is somehow the lack of players and battles are not balanced as they should be.
However, Steam release is close, and that should fix it.
Other then that , if you love MOBA's , this game is for you.
Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!
Just like the many people before me i have to disagree with the review.
1 day is all my old pc could bare with me in this game before it croaked on me and i had a very good time(even though mobas are not my thing).
For one thing-the innovation:
i dont see how its not innovative by adding new things. how many mobas have we seen now that try new things, and dont just say "ok heres a jungle. heres a lane. now pick your hero and play for hours losing to people who actually know how this genre plays out"
they actually make you feel like a supreme commander- you dont just command one soldier; you have an entire town under your command. people who work for you, heroes that quest for you(you can send a hero on a request to do a job while youre not actvely playing) and most of all you design your place. your castle will probably not look the same as just some other guy's castle.
next is the "zuma" thing. while tricky and seemingly pointless- its actually very useful, and in more than one way. the scrolls can be game changers, and if youre injured or your team has a small lead, why not do a little something for the team if youre already in the base. also it can take your mind off some crazy stuff going on in the match.
then there are the many games modes.many dfferent modes that change during different times of the day- from the classic 3v3 or 5v5 to a 4v4 "king of the hill(or dungeon)" kil the dragon match, and a "faster" zombie mode where heroes can help their army grow by killing soldiers of the enemy army.
I enjoyed it very much and plan to download it once i get a new device to play on
9/10 for the promise it holds. 8/10 for just being good
James, be honest, did it take a longer time to write the review than to actually try out the game?!
If you had actually tried the game for more than an hour and researched it a bit more, you'd be writing about (real life) gender benefits instead of the minigame in the "weird innovative feature" section.
For me the talent system was a lot easier and made a lot more sense than it does in most MOBA's.
Prime World is easily the most Innovative MOBA out there right now.. (Ok, maybe Arena of Heroes is more "innovative" because it's turn based or smite because it's in the third person view- other than that, those game's don't try to do anything new in the moba genre)
This review is a joke.Maybe moba games are not my thing but i at least try them out.Had tryed most of them if not all and i got to say Prime world is one that tryes to get out of the same copycat style, and what do you do? You bash on it puting at con lack of gear, complicated talents, and the mini game witch if you had taken time to actualy play the game it has a great suportive role to the team.Everything that try's to be innovative you see it as a fault.
All I can say is now we know why company's dont try to be innovative because they will get bashed for it yes as wierd as it sounds.
My only guess is you had a bad experiance ingame or you wrote this when you where angry witch no reviewer should ever do, 3/10 on innovation thats where I said yes this is a bad review out of all moba's to give this one a 3.
its "Dohkt Imperium" -.-
