To Devs: The best, famous game critics on youtube are WH40k fans

To the developers:

Did you know that two biggest, and BEST game critics on youtube are actually Wh40k fans and those two are:

-The Angry Joe

-Total Biscuit

Now why i wrote this tread is simple, these guys are wh40k fans and as such they need to be approached by you developers and given exclusive interviews and Closed Beta keys, for the sake of marketing and game becoming known to more fans out there who dont know there is such game in the making in the first place and believe me there are many.

There is huge potential here for marketing and promoting , so dont forget to fully use it.

These guys are fans and very influential at that. If your game is good and, when you have something good to show for it ,ask these guys for it or get in contact whit them, as they will promote your game as Wh40k fans and support it if your game is really good.

Giving them Closed Beta keys is a must and so is Unique and never seen before info and Interviews.

Doing so will save you a lot of money for marketing and raise the hype for the game.

I know you probably know of Total Biscuit but maybe dont Angry Joe, whose reviews have destroyed or sold the games based on their quality.

Just look at this Guild Wars 2 review by Angry Joe it has 2Million views, and it is not little to say that his review of it ,is what sold the game and made it so successful:

And as there are MANY fans that dont know of this game ,and that such game is in the making, i think you should approach them as soon as you have something to show off.

Dont forget the the table top gaming clubs who have their youtube channels and such as:

- Miniwargaming who have been asked by Space Marine game developers (Relic) to come and check the game in the past, so you should do the same as them. These guys are Canadians so all the more reasons to do so.

- You have also Bluetable painting and Beasts of War , tho i dont know will that work out, but you could try.

Now i know you may have know this already ,but i needed to write this so you dont FORGET, as i believe this would save you a lot of marketing money, and so you would have more invested in game making, which is extremely important.

And one more thing: if you intend to make one cool short trailer for the game in CGI, before you do so, if you do it in the first place, release several Gameplay videos first so the ones looking at it know what to expect. CGI needs to make them more hyped but not ignorant of real gameplay, thus expecting Crysis of an mmo based on trailer.

So gameplay first - cgi second.

- I wonder if Games Workshop would put something about the game on their website if you asked them to do it , it would be a big + if they did it.

And there is guy from Crytek, a programer i think (the guys who made Crysis) that is working on unofficial Wh40k movie by him self. It is called The Lord Inquisitor, look it up, Any way this guy have like 33k likes on Facebook and his page is very visited (he puts a lot of funny WH40k posts there) so if he could sneak in few post or videos about your game on his Facebook it could be good for you.

So my last word is to reach out to all Wh40k fans and draw them in, and make them interested in game you are making ,because there are a lot of fans but many of them do not know that the game is in the making. Doing so will have HUGE impact on sales and make the game supported ,so you will have big player base that is supporting it and making it successful and long lasting.

This game needs more attention and i hope it gets it. Best wishes to the Devs.

May the Eternal Crusade bring a lot of glory to WH40k and Yourselves.

(for Devs) Post comments of what you think and could this be accomplished.

in october they want to show an alpha gameplay video (we already saw some scenes in the meet the devs video)

the last info i got is that they havent planed to make a cinematictrailer for EC

    just for info :)

and the release of this game is 2 years away i think they have plans to promote this game and since they are very close to the com they will "use" famous youtubers too i think

maybe you should mail a link of this thread to miguel on twitter so you make sure he read it :)

    To add:

Some companies have made this form of a deal when giving out early access keys: "You can play it and do whatever you like in the game, but you may not show it to people on youtube/stream it on twitch etc."

Now, if you ask me that's kidna dumb. You're not making yourself a favour by giving out keys and then disabling the ability to show what the game is like to other viewers who might not be so fortunate to receive a key. So basically, let the closed beta members show the gameplay to viewers from youtube etc, because this will greatly benefit you and you will get a bigger audience and wider marketing possibilities. Youtube has a massive impact to some games through the publicity it provides.

And yea, Totalbiscuit and Angry Joe are very cool people. I think TB is a Chaos fan and his favourite army is the Thousand Sons.. not sure though, lol.

  • OdolusasOdolusas Member Posts: 30

GitzStompa - well i think showing early built of closed beta may not be the best idea, as it would be full of bugs and not very best first impression for ppl who are watching, but i agree there should be some form of short (several minutes gameplay video and commentary off the press who played it), just to get the idea of the game and hear from them how is game looking up and do they like what is shown. Yes total silence at closed beta is bad to me.

Yes Angry Joe and Total Biscuit are cool ppl.

I dont know for Total Biscuit but i have seen in one video of Angry Joe holding Legion of the Damned minis in his hand. He said that he played WH40k while he was in high school so he is tabletop player and a fan of lore.

Look at this to know more:

There are videos of total bisuquit engaged with one of the devs and 3-4 more people in RP  over skype.. its on youtube and he posted it as well, and even before that in all warhammer related videos u can see he's knowlagable.

Agree that they should get to cover this game one way or another, for free promotion or w/e it'd bring game to more fans and more publicity for very little effort. ( just hop they actually like the game ;-D)

Zulmaluka - if you are talking about Total Biscuit i never said he was not knowledgeable about wh40k . It is given that he is as i have mentioned that he is big Wh40k fan and knows a lot(everyone knows that), but what i said is: I dont know about Total Biscuit (it terms of what army he played as a tabletop player).

And what i think is that devs need to pull out some gameplay videos fast and, some interviews too, as i find presence of the game on internet in general and youtube very lacking.

The problem is that many wh40k fans did not know that Space Marine game got out when it did only to find it 2 years later when its multiplayer was dead..and you need to use youtube as much as possible these days as it is best way to promote games on huge channels like machinima and ign and others. But still their marketing was very focused (from what i saw) and that to me was bad.

Ofc Angry Joe and Total Biscuit must be big part of its media exposure, as they are the best reviewer / critics out there and fans of the universe and tabletop.

The wh40k fans are all over internet and globe, but you need to dig deep and wide to get to all of them in every way and form.

The problem at the moment is lack of any gameplay videos or trailer that would raise the hype for game, and ofc there should be several interviews on big channels on youtube at the same time as videos are released, creating the resonance of interest and attention for the game.

Until then i can only hope that Eternal Crusade marketing to be more aggressive and persistent (all Games Days, Gamescom,E3,Comic Cons,Paxs.....) and ofc going for more global focused(over internet)marketing as there are wh40k fans not only in Europe and NA. As far as i know eastern market is very big as the mmoes goes (Korea,China, and Russia has a lot of wh40k fans too).

  • ZulmalukaZulmaluka Member UncommonPosts: 18

@Odolusas   Never meant it that way, i understood what u said, was just pointing out the obvious.. Tho cant remember what exactly did he mentioned he used to play in TT (was it orks or something cant be sure been a while)

Well does it really matter that much, game is so far from release its too early, then again as a fan i would love to see some footage or more info :/

What u say about fans and space marine might be true to some degree, if someone doesn't really visit interwebz or gaming/PC magazines its not publishers fault but theirs imo.

    no thats not a problem

the game is just not ready yet to be shown, trailer is way to early too (there are still 2 years untill release!)

The game announcment is 3 months old and there were loooots of interviews (on youtube too), Q&A and game content reveals

i think that it dont need more at this moment cause they need to focus on the game

and they know that the asian people are very open for wh40k, exspecialy russia.

    so dont worry :)

btw im doing propaganda for this game everywhere where i find interesst in wh40k :D you all should do this too

    PROPAGANDA FOR THE PROPAGANDA GOD!!!

I wonder if devs are watching any of the Flash Gitz animations, that stuff is funny (watch The Trials of Draigo)

What if Flash Gitz made a comical animation to promote Eternal Crusade hmmm.....

if i understand correcly miguel say something about some white dwarf article. I imagine a lot of promotion will be internal to the war 40k fan community.

Thank You Crusaders. We are already in contact with Total Biscuit but with my ''passionate'' personality I have to be very carefull with him so I dont ''brown nose'' him. He is all about fact and I need amunitions beside my sparkling personality to engage with him. Meanwhile my Lead Level designer Steven Lumpkin is playing Roleplay Dark Heresy with him. You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHVYrCKtqfM

Mister Miguel i am glad that you read what i posted.

Angry Joe name is Joe Vargas and he has twitter, and wiki article about him self , always wearing leather jacket and superman T - shirt and has spiky hair so he is hard to miss.

You will find him easily on just one google search . Joe Vargas (Angry Joe) is the name of his twitter profile.

    P.S

When you do gameplay reveal do the exclusive interviews whit Total Biscuit and Angry Joe, that would boost the hype and interest for Eternal Crusade massively.

    Angry Joe could lead Chaos

TB would be perfect for IG but since they are not playable thnik he would do fine with Space Marines :)

And give Orks to Jesse Cox maybe :D

Getting 3 of them on board and other famous youtubers would probably the best marketing strategy :)

Just check their Guns of Icarus gameplay :D
