I downloaded the Beta last week and it's the best MMO decision I've made for a long time. It's definitely the most enjoyable new MMO I've tried recently. I like that crafting is central to the game and that you can play different battleframes on one character. It's very open with little direction. But you can always find stuff to do. And it has far more depth than what might seem a similar game, Global Agenda. There is a problem with players who were there at the beginning and don't think the game is what they expected. They are quite vociferous as is usually the case. But if you've no preconceptions you should try this. It's a blast!

I will have to agree with you on this ... Great game ... When i first heard about it .. I was not interested at all . then one day while browsing youtube I found an Extra Credits video on Firefall .. (ok so there were 5 in total) but after watching that ... I had to try.
The graphics are nice ... you can play for hours or just a short 20 min stint. The game still could use a bit more work here and there but overall I do like what they have done.
I was in the same boat as you until recently.
Sure, it's fun. Even though the PVE missions can be a bit repetitive, its always fun to do them all in different battleframes, and complete missions in different areas for a change of scenery.
The battleframes all have different playstyles that make for a fun experience. The crafting is intricate and interesting.
Then the bugs start to happen. You have to restart everytime the battleframe garage gets stuck. Rebuilding the ui with "/rui" doesn't always help.
Missions get stuck as NPC disappear into walls.
The rubberbanding gets CRAZY when lots of people around around your area.
Lots of laptop have been experiencing the "warning Connection" bug that makes the game UNPLAYABLE.
Certain NPCs can always 1 shot you with a grenade launcher while you are in mid air.
The inventory system is horrid.
The currency and/or experience points fails to update after upgrading a battleframe, once again forcing a restart.
The list goes on & on & on & on. Basic things. Hopefully now that they are focusing on PVE these things will get sorted out because all in all it has the basis for a real fun game. I would NOT recommend spending any real $$ until they sort these things out.
Maybe they need to have two executioners hunting you down? Explore the map....I find interesting things all the time and things that change all the time (like watchtower battles).
I loved this game too, for about 2 weeks
I have never played a game with this much grind. I know its still in beta, but in order to keep your gear relevant, you must grind, grind, grind
If your a PvPer, that's grind x100, because your gear gets damaged even faster than PvE
Especially the "servos", the only way to replace your servos, you need DNA from Threshers, but Threshers are not easy to find, and you need 50 DNA pieces for just one set of servos
You could spend days, even weeks trying to get that. Only to have your servos dead within just a few days of PvP
Just not worth the time, as fun as the combat is
I played the beta a while back and remember having fun. It's been so long though I was wondering what has changed. Maybe I'll just give it another try when it's officially released. Did they give a date yet?
Yep there is a durability system, but you must be using loot items like Accord Elite gear. My crafted gear durability is much higher and by the time I need something new its time to upgrade anyway.
You use the 'grind' way to much here. Sorry but have been in real grinders and FF isn't close to any of them. I played all frame types before finally deciding on the one I wanted to progress, my bad ass Firecat, and have already progressed that frame to Tier 3. I have been playing casually for about 6 weeks now.
Trust me y'all, Firefall has so much potential. Now that Red5 has a clear vision on where they want to take the game it will only get better. Yes, there are bugs, but they are more inconveniences the show stoppers. Try it for yourself! Its really unique in so many ways, just remember it is still in BETA, despite what the review on this site says. They have lots of work to do.
BTW the established community is awesome. Always helpful in chat to people working their way through the learning curve, and there is a learning curve.
Peace!
