AMD and the Star Citizen devs have teamed up to release a great looking "sizzle" reel that will surely make fans pine even more for the forthcoming space-themed MMO. Check it out!
The Star Citizen team also announced the following:
Los Angeles, — Star Citizen™, the PC based space sim from legendary designer Chris Roberts has crossed yet another major milestone in its crowd funding campaign. Roberts' company, Cloud Imperium™ Games announced today the campaign passed the $20 million mark in crowd funding. It's an amount that's been raised in less than one year — $10 million was raised in just the past 4 ½ months.

This video is basically a combination of the original kickstarter campaign video (late 2012) combined with footage from some recent videos they created to advertise their pledge ships.
No new video footage here besides a few seconds of the Aurora taking off in flight, but it's still a great-looking video if you're new to Star Citizen and haven't seen any of the game footage so far.
I've seen parts of it I think. But as a whole it's totally awesome. It's the only game I'm really waiting for now.
Holy cow is this so cool!
.............
When in doubt, troll.
one thing promising is that i will get to see my computer be broken in half trying to run this game
(time to upgrade)
And for those not keeping up with the ongoing crowd-funding, today they broke the $20 million mark: robertsspaceindustries.com
Pretty awesome
So taking off from a planet? That's new; but what about the kitchen sink?
O wait they have that too.
Has the "taking off from a planet" been confirmed? If it has, then this game is already a classic because as far as I know; NO game has done that yet without some sort of load screen.
This game is going to be so frickin' awesome. The more I see of it, it reminds me of an old Playstation One game called "Colony Wars".
It's been confirmed that there will be NO TAKING OFF from planet, ONLY CUT-SCENES (which might probably act as loading screens) when you go out. And it makes sense. I don't want them to waste unnecessary time on buildings and environment on a planet we will be spending less than 1% on our time on. Seeing the size of planets, even if they do, it will extremely low resolution or just copy-pasted throughout. Better a cut-scene than ruining the immersion with cheap environment.
Atmospheric flight will be added after release due to the crowd funding hitting a stretch goal a few million back.
We are also going to see full fps boarding actions against player ships.
These are all the stretch goals from crowd-funding

None say anything about Atmospheric flight.
Of course, boarding actions are there but that wasn't the discussion was it?

Like i said in my early post;

It's better to not have it because they will mostly be replicating the same environments over a planet just because of the sheer size of the planet or they will only have a small area of the planet for the atmospheric flight. It's just impractical and better to not waste manpower on something so trivial. Like i said, you will barely spend any time on planets and most people will just dock on space stations.
This seems either the EvE killer or vapourware...
I am on the fence about it.

Since the backers already have the Hangar Module which lets them walk around in their hangar and explore their ships I doubt Vaporware.
I've been following this game religiously since it was announced. We've practically been watching over their shoulders as they make the game. It's a very very open development.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move. - Douglas Adams
the people that say EVE killer still doesnt realize that they're two completely different animals, Star Citizen is a typical space sim with cockpit gameplay. EVE is a tactical space game. you're entering in the same garbage discussion as those that claim for "WoW killers" for every promising title that comes every year.
Star Citizen or Elite: Dangerous or X:Rebirth will take the people who like to fly with actual controls. but EVE remains as the point and click option with bigger ships to control. also EVE: Valkyrie (i hope they release a version without occulus rift)
Uhm, there is a game in development with that - Infinity: The Quest for Earth, and because of that the planets looks bad, and think they need to copy-past thousands/milions of planets like that. It isn't necessary and will be boring after first few days.
true, the problem with Infinity is that it will take several years to have both the engine and the game completed. there are other games with atmospheric flight, mostly from the Evochron series. (Evochron Mercenary, Legends and i think Arvoch Alliance)
when you build your characfter you also create a second character which will inherit all the assets of your first character as well as part of its reputation with the various factions. Considering the fact that you can only make 1 character per account originally (you can pay for additional slots after) the reputation loss is needed if you want to switch from a pirate to a law enforcement officer. You'll have to kill your character a few times to the heir of the heir of the heir has a lot less negative reputation with the factions and you can make the switch
Regards
True. I hope it plays as well as it looks so far. If they pull this of on the 20-30 million dollars they've raised then it would certainly put some bigger budget games to shame. (e.g SWTOR)
