No if good you have to start in New Halas or Greater Faydark (Felwithe) you can not start in the Towns anymore. I think forest Ruins and Elddar grove is removed too. Start a free to play toon and go back and look around.
No, they removed Freeport and Qeynos as starting options. You can however move there as soon as you feel like it. Also the adventure zones around the city are still available for early levels.

I returned to eq2 lately to see how it changed.
Yes, if you are good aligned, you can cross the water at the first raft and head up the snowy hill pass into town, through the spider cave to the mariner bell. From that bell you can go anywhere, including Qeynos.
The suburb zones that used to be there no longer exist. I was a little disappointed to find no baubbleshire or starcrest commune. Your beginning housing quest can set you up with a free room at the inn in south qeynos and you can kill lesser mobs in peat bog for a few levels until you're ready for quest series in the caves or just go out to antonica around lvl 8-10.

Aside from Gorowin, you can reach any starting area with a little running at level 1.
New Halas: raft across, run up to the town backdoor then down to the docks.
Kelethin: run to the city and go up the lift.
Neriak: run to the city and down to the dock.
Gorowin: run to... okay, swim around the nasty island, run up to the griffon perch, fly to the city, run thru it to the docks.
I created a level on toon in Halas and went directly to Qeynos. Had a great time levelling in the old areas. Yes, the caves, sewers, ruins and swamps are all still there to level up in with quests.
but i agree it doesnt compare to Qeynos/Freeport launch subzones
I never saw the big deal with the starter isles. I think they shoud have been kept in as other options, but I never brought any toon there after Gfay and Neriak opened.
I do use the zones like Oakmyst Forest and Sunken City from time to time, and those are still intact thankfully.
