I'd imagine SE received 100K+ emails in the first week or 2 after release. People complaining about game keys mixups, server locks, asking when sales are resuming, and thousands of other standard CS queries. As that massive backlog is slowly cleared, they'll have more and more time to actively fight goldspammers.

I think it is unrealistic to assume that you will not get gold spamming just because it is P2P, I am just surprised at how bad it is in comparison. WoW used to be much worse but it has gotten a lot better. Even F2P games have put in restrictions like level 10 to chat etc. The Ban Hammer cannot come fast enough.

He was being sarcastic. I have read numerous times on these forums how P2P MMOS are free from gold spam, trolls and all the evils of F2P games. P2P purists surely love to tell everyone this a lot.

How do we actually report? I think I've been only Blacklisting people, until now.

About this macro... do you still need to click the name, or will the macro automaticaly blacklist the last guy who sent you a tell?

I'm not on FF14, because I can't afford to at this time, but you aren't alone in this issue.

Lately I've been playing Neverwinter, and the gold spammers have gotten a bit craftier in the last week or two.

Now they seem to be changing names/accounts about every 5 minutes.

Additionally, the character names are reasonable fantasy names. Though the account names still tend to be gobblygook keyboard jams.

Fortunately Neverwinter does allow you to right click on a name in chat and select 'report as spam'. I find it hard to believe that a modern game doesn't have that function. Maybe pointing out to them that WoW & Neverwinter both do, might be enough to spur them into action. (Probably not, but it's worth a try.)

Wouldn't it be nice if when you report a spammer, their computer would transform into a horde of rabid flaming poisonous spiders?  :)

Lost my mind, now trying to lose yours...
