Hello everyone,
I've just got to lvl 34 and I acquired Fire 3... My question is what is the benefit of using Fire 3 instead of Fire 1? It doesn't do that much more dmg and it's way more MP consuming... also the cast time is +1 second compared to Fire 1...
so.. why bother?
Also How come on FIRE 3 description spell it says cast 3.5 sec, recast 2.5 sec, but everytime i cast it it always takes 3.5 sec... I'm a bit confused..
Thanks

As with all abilities none become useless. fire 3s dmg is higher yes and has a longer cast bar, cost more mana to use. but mana per mana the dmg is the same in the long run. Things will change drasticly when you aquire ice 3 and the firestarter ability.
Once you do you usually open like this. Start with a thunder spell of your choice, usually this will depend on your mana pool, its not always good to cast thunder 3 all the time due to how much mana it takes to cast and can ruin your rotation but there are times it can be used right, the thing is at the end you wanna make sure you have enough mana to cast ice 3, then thunder again (your choice) then fire 3 to using fire 1. once you get ice 3 you rarely use transpose, only if you messed up and ended with no mana for a mp recovery phase.
What I do is i start with thunder 2, then fire 3 to gain 3 stacks of umbra fire. I will then cast fire 1 till my mana depletes close to 500 mp, i will only cast fire 3 if firestarter procs and of course thunder 3 if thundercloud procs. I then cast Ice 3 which since its under the effects of 3 umbra fire the mp cost is rediced to 79 mp and it takes less than 2 seconds to cast vs its 3.5 ish cast timer.
This will take off the 3 stacks of umbra fire and /replace/ it with 3 stacks of umbra ice. I then cast thunder 2, by the time that cast is done i will have full mana so i cast fire 3 which only cost 133 mana and will take about a second to cast. then repeat.
That is the huge diff later on, you rarely transpose, only if you end up with less mana to cast an ice 3. Both fire 3 and ice 3 replace the umbra ice and umbra fire. Fire 1 and 2 will remove umbra ice first, the next cast will add an umbra fire stack. ice 1 and 2 will remove umbra fire first and next will add umbra ice. Fire 3 replaces umbra ice (3stacks) to umbra fire (3 stacks) ice 3 does the same as fire 3 only replacing with umbra ice.
You use Fire I to trigger Firestarter (Free Fire III). You pretty much never cast Fire III for full cost.
Basic Rotation:
Start with Thunder III (watch for free Thunder III procs) > Cast Fire I (watch for free Fire III) until low MP > Transpose > Ice III > Scathe | Start again.
That is complete nonsense.
I use the same rotation as taus, except i scathe>transpose>ice III just due to the fact that transpose isn't affected by the 2.5 GCD from scathe and can be cast immediately after
Taus01 also onoria you have it wrong. Yes you do start out with Thunder (2 or 3 your choice, i stick with 2 since the higher cost of thunder 3 does not merit the little dmg and extra cast time) However, using fire 1 after is counterproductive, if firestarter does not proc on your 1st 3 fire 1 casts you severed your dmg.
Fire 1 cost 319 mana at lvl 50 and after the first stack of umbra fire the mana cost is doubled. to reach your full potential damage of your fire spells it takes 3 casts then the following one will do your maximum fire damage. so that is 435 mana for thunder3 , 319 mana for your first fire 3 , then its 638 mana till you recover.
at 50 without any buffs to piety you will have roughtly about 3662 mana given no firestarter for you to ramp up your damage to max you ended up spending 2020 mana leaving prob enough mana for 3 fire 1s at max damage.
If you cast thunder 2 at 319 mana followed by fire 3 which cost 532 mana you are at max fire damage at the cost of 851 damage.
Both of these are not including firestarter which is a 40% chance to proc. your rotation has a potential to waste 2020 mana while the other is a garanteed max damage for the cost of 851.
The trick is to try to save 500 mana for the next phase /NEVER/ transpose unless you cannot cast ice 3 which cost 79 mana when you have umbra fire at 3 stacks, the casting time of ice 3 is drasticly reduced also when under the effects of ice 3, never cast ice 1 if you have less than 79 mana as it will negate your fire stack and leaving you oom. if you have less than 79 mp , then transpose to cast ice 3.
Ice 3 will cap your mana in two tics this will allow you to cast the thunder spell of your choice. Because you are under the effects of umbra ice 3 now, fire 3 now cost 113 mana and takes a bit over a second to cast. so you will be at max cap mp and a full 3 umbra fire stack to continue your fire one mp burn.
If you do it right the mob will always be under the effect of thunder, thus why thunder 2 is favorable since the rotation still fits in even if you get firestarter procs. of course thundercloud procs always thunder 3.
