hmmmm welllll (think morrowind online its being compared a lot to morrowind in a way)
a skill system instead of the old boring class system.your skills get better as you use em and not by spending points in them.
A real time fighting system where you can aim for weaker body part try and create opportunity to attack your enemy.block arrow by raising your shield.real body physic.Your a giant ogre with a giant sword?well you got a lot more range than my little goblin with a spear and watch out when you swing that thing you could end up hitting me instead of the mobs.
a scaringly smart ai system that manage everything that goes on in the world from ressources to quest and npc.. and it act accordingly. go here if you want some example of what they aiming for http://www.mmocenter.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=794
and finaly they let you free to choose if you iether want to play a main character or casual character.where main character learn faster and are somewhat stronger but they get one life and thats it.you die your dead.
i heard also they wanted too add mounted combat.
if they can get all that stuff in i know id be happy. fear my stealth mage thief! ^-^v
I think the feature that caught my attention the most was the Main Character and Regular Character idea. Seems like a wonderful compromise between what hardcore players would like and what casual players need.
I aslo like the fact that RR talks alot about involvment, having players be part of the world instead of just viewers not able to really affect anything.
But then again... I've seen so many promises and fake feature lists over the years for "upcomming" mmo's... I'll buy into it when I see it.
EAI, twitch/skill based combat, skill based player advancement, player constructed towns, open PvP, Permadeath (if you want it), 27 playable races/subraces....
LordMagus, just curious, why don't you think this game deserves the hype it's getting? Because it's not another EQ clone? heheh....

I look foward to : - real time real space combat : if you miss it's only because you didn't physically touch your opponent : i much prefer twitch gaming over click and wait, even old style turn based combat is better than click and wait - collision detection : what normal offline fantasy 3d rpg games have and was sorely missing from mmprpgs : the realistic combat tactics that are only possible when collision detection is on
What first stood out for me was the Main and Regular character feature, but what I'm really looking forward too now is their EAI (Emergent AI, basically a dynamic AI system in which the world is changing with each action being done, not physically, but by NPCs offereing different quests, looking out for murderers, asking players to defend towns, etc...), I love the possibilities of a system in which you can be with a friend doing a quest when you suddenly realize your goals are the complete opposite of each other, one is supposed to save the goblin king and the other is supposed to kill the goblin king. It sounds so intriguing to see what they can do with the EAI, the possibilities are endless. This feature in my opinion will make TC stand out from the rest of the MMORPG world.
- EAI including a dynamic gameworld. Im sick of beeing the glorious dwarfen dude #350023 defeating (*enter random static bossname here*) For illustration: Link to a great german wow comic. I guess its possible to understand the quintessence also without understanding the text bubbles.
- Freedom of skills : No cookiecutter characters, you can also invent your own spells. Not unique to this game, but a feature i prefere over static class concept.
- Open pvp : Im a big fan of open pvp games, not for the grief but for the stronger relationships that occure in such games.
- Casual suitable : Not 100% sure on this one, but according to mmocenter business concept (producing alot of mmorpgs over the time), i guess every single game wont be such a necessary time sink to be fun.
For me it was Permadeath hehe i wanna see someone get so peed at another guy that he actule kill the other guys character or lets him live so he has to live with the shame of defet and the best part of that is that he will be know as the guy who has more bark than bite
Many many years ago, when I played Morrowind (elder scrolls 3), I always wished that people would turn the game into some sort of an MMO. I think that this game kind of feels like its sort of in that direction.
- Skill System : As close to a morrowind-like feel as I could possibly hope for, just the fact that you level your skills based on what you use really interests me. I can directly spend my time honing certain skills on what I'm going to be using, not just "grinding for level".
- Open PvP : What more can I say? So long as things don't get too out of hand, this would be perfectly what I hope for, a more realistic feel towards the game.
- Main Characters : This is probably the aspect that interests me the most. The perma death and the main characters having special benefits. You know, I was kind of thinking of a war between two guilds, like the anime Berserk lol. Where the main army leaders clash and all around are all the regular characters clashing, everyone trying to take down the mains. Wouldn't that be great?
this is going to be like an insanely awesome version of the D&D Online combat system.. which was a great system btw.
Lets see... other than everything... I dont know... maybe this comment is what is pulling me more towards the game now:

But then again.. im a fan of the Ryzom Ring... so anything that involves the community like that excites me
<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Oh were to begin, MAIN characters ... yes yes you'll se me running around as a MAIN ch GOBLIN hehe.
OPEN PvP I really hate where "other" MMO's put in all kinds of restrictions to force PvP ing in to Zones. I don't like Murdering player types either but to solve that buy Zones is unimaginative. The FAME system looks to solve some issues and if more players can interact and have an effect on the gaming world some of this boring stuff is going to be limited. Players being able to do more interesting things then bashing for no reason other than to bash.
And the REAL combat feature is GREAT I still cant find a good reason for XP grinding it doesn't make my brain very exited. Real time combat and tactics does
And as some one stated its like a ONLINE MORROWIND witch isn't bad skill progression is really the way to go IMO. Theres just to many good features to name them all, ultimately its about giving player freedom and feedback for actions in the game be it crafting the best chairs to slaying most dragons I hope the ONLINE MMORPG community gets its eyes on this game.
I'm new to the forums but this game really got me exited so I had to post, I hope that they can keep what they are promising if so this game is going to be a RPG heaven while still being appealing to casual gamers. ( I hope)
Definitly the fighting system has got me hyped so much im having a fit because im not playing TC atm I i can see how cool the fighting would be. Say if there was 3 enemys around you, you could swing your sword around yourself and kill all 3, even if its 3 against 1. So great that skill takes part in this wonderfull wonderfull wonderfull game Many praises to the team behind this.
I'm really looking forward to espionage, assassinations, kidnappings for ransom, main character tournaments, empire building, faction warring, and eye popping action

I would be very carefull with "special" things for only some of the community members. It's a very easy way to ensure that those are your only community members...

the thing I like most is the building of characters and cities. cities are completly destroyable so its gonna take some statagy to make a city survive.
What happens if a main character dies? "If your main character dies, you will be free to create another main character."
Now i'm not entirely sure of the exact penalties if you die and are able to be ressurected or saved, but completely losing your main character due to perma-death and having to start a new one is what I would class as a pretty big penalty.
Rwt: now when u die where u respawn will depend on ur penalties
Nathan-MMOCenter: Yes, rwt, but it's up to you how much and how far.
Rwt: and i mentioned that if u respawned at the farthest bind point then recall to the closest (where u died), how will u fix bugs like these? or at least keep them in check
Nathan-MMOCenter: This is still in the works, but right now we're going with a bind point system, but one in which you can set multiple bind points. When you die (as a regular character), you may select which bind point to respawn at, with your death penalty (stat loss, maybe item loss or degradation) increasing the closer to your point of death you want to respawn.

Skill-based advancement. The dreaded permadeath. Another venue for me to harass Caesar's Ghost.
And I can be a short, dumpy goblin. that's the most important thing.

Cannot wait to use my CoD skills in this game, definitley something that will be enjoyable.
I'm looking forward to the combat system and open pvp....buttttt I am quite sad that there is no penalty for dying
The "FPS MMOrpg" this thing realy sounds kewl, now you need player skills to own! And you dont just click on Q and wait for mob to die!
Skill system and the NPC AI seems nice aswell!
Im cool!

There are some sought of penalties in The Chronicle if you die.
For Main Characters
Taken from the FAQs
