This doesn't really excite me.  But, then again I never played City of Heroes.  For those who have, I am happy they will get there game back.  Hopefully, more people made aware of it so those fans can pledge.

I did and I have to be honest... It's death somehow has managed to completely over exaggerate the game's greatness. It was a good game, but it was a pretty linear, standard run-of-your-mill themepark MMO.

CoH never really delivered, at least for me, but best of luck.

I came to it much later than most, but City of Heroes was one of the few themeparks I've played where I didn't go, "Nope!" an hour into it. Good enough for me. It also felt like an actual MMO. Everyone's character was so radically different than the next person's, it made me feel like I was a part of a unique community. I'd sit around Atlas Park and go, "Man, look at that guy! Check out this chick!" I'm also a sucker for games that give you countless options in terms of how you want to build your character (from both an aesthetic, gameplay and role-playing standpoint). How many MMOs offer those sort of options? Not many. I'd hardly categorize it as your standard MMO fare, but that's just me.

Believe me that's not just you! :P

Main reason I'm in support of this Kickstarter.

    From their KS page:

"So, before anything else, we’re out $70,000.

Since we are developing the game using the Unreal Engine, and the Kickstarter counts as revenue, we owe Epic Games, the company which makes the Unreal Engine royalties. That comes to about $70,000, as well."

They are making it with Unreal Engine.

I believe it says they started with CryEngine from Dec-March, and switched over to Unreal Engine in March.

Thanks for the heads up. Unsure on this one. "Spiritual Successors" do not excite me, usually, though I enjoyed the heck out of CoH.

Interesting tidbits: (as of this post - 32 days left)
    1) 995 people have pledged $134,201 thus far.
    2) 1 person has pledged $5,000.
    3) 2 people have pledged $3,000.
    4) 2 people have pledged $1,500
    5) 11 people have pledged $1,000.
    6) There is a $10,000 pledge possible.

Are these people serious? I guess numbers say they are. Who on earth would pay $1000 or more for a video game?

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.

Try looking at camelot unchained kickstarter page. there are 4 10K$ backers. There are people who genuinely wants to be part of a game's development but they don't have millions of $ to do so and this is where kickstarter comes in. backers who pledge above certain amount and then pays after the kickstarter is over gets to see what the devs are doing with their money by visiting developers and joining them in discussion. kickstarter are great this way.
