Yup, The Secret World

Tried all the new MMORPGS , (FF XIV, GW2,Neverwinter,Firefall,Age of Wushu etc) only one game managed to pull me back....yup The Secret World.

Great horror approach, niche atmosphere, great story..

I'm so glad I bought it when it came out, still the best (imo) around!

Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

Was good until I maxed out the third character and got all the 10.4/10.4.

Unfortunately TSW lacks longevity like all the other themepark MMOs, and it would've been cool, if they went with their first ideas of PvP for Agartha.

just reinstalled the other day but didn't play because dl was taking forever. Though I haven't played much since the first month or two I always find myself recommending this game to people for its world and lore. A really good puzzler and lots of intrigue. If the combat was a bit more polished and inspired this game would have been my go to.

I want to like it but I just don't enjoy the combat. For me tab targeting doesn't work with guns and there version of TPS doesn't work for me. Having said that I like the modern setting, makes a change from all the fantasy MMOs out there.

Same here. Everything about the game is really cool, but the combat is just clunky. It's not so much the tab target for me, I'm fine with that, but the combat is just really clunky. I think they could have benefited greatly from some form of "action" combat.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Combat just feels bad to me and the look of the characters is just ugly, no pretty women in this mmo. I'm afraid I played it for a couple of months and I just don't like it.

The PvE, Dungeon, Quest line is best in MMO.  Only thing that is horrible is the PvP.  Unfortunately I am very much into pvp.

Now Playing: DARKFALL Unholy Wars "Return to Open World, Full Loot PvP, Conquest in a Sandbox MMO with player driven economy! Just like classic MMOs!"

How long did it take you to max out 3 chars?

From my own experience, getting full 10.4.4 and 100% wheel completion on a single chars take you several 100 hours of game time, and Im quite perplexed how you cannot call that longevity.

    agreed on the ugly characters.

combat is still okay for me, classic tab targetting and rotation, can't go wrong with those. action combat is fine but sometimes lag really kills it either on my side or server side, really ruins the fun.

imo the characters combat movement animation thats clunky and weird, but its already been discussed a million times and theres nothing can be done.

love the puzzles and modern realistic settings, really fresh ideas.

    stories are also awesome.

finally, and again, why can't they give us good looking characters, shouldn't be too hard really, characters on the box and ads looks perfectly fine. even aoc have better looking characters...

    Different Strokes....

I find the combat great normally this is because you haven't progressed enough through the game to be able to swap and chop skills around.  I also think the character models are pretty good certainly compared to other games.  They are all very similar mainly because of the clothing system.

Pressing T gives targeting mode, no alt/tabbing at all.  Just cross hairs...

If you managed 10.4/10.4 on three toons then must have play crazy style, that takes alot of time.  Of course you can go to 10.5 now and likely 10.6 by the end of the year.  Augment system incoming with 100's of augments to add to your skills aswell.

I couldn't get past the crafti.. er... excuse me "assembly" system. I hated it.
Plus my character felt like he had no weight; like he was floating in front of the backgrounds. I didn't care for the storyline or voice acting. All seemed juvenile to me.

The rest of the game I really liked though. The concepts are fantastic. Thats why I preordered.

I agree with OP,of all the MMORPGS i had installed, they only one left i have is The Secret World & FF XIV.I'm in love with The Secret World, but i also find it very UNFAIR.I mean, why do i need to pay for a "chapter" DLC, when i bought the game when it was released? i don't like that AT ALL.

TANSTAAFL. The operating bills have to be paid somehow.

The game launched as pay-to-play and you needed a subscription to play at all. New chapters came "free" (actually covered by your subscription payments). Now it's buy-to-play and what you bought was the game content at the time of the conversion. Playing that content is now "free" to you. If you want more, then pay for it.

Eh, buying a ten dollar expansion every few months is totally cheaper than a sub for the same amount of time.  Now mind you, if you do sub to TSW, you still get the Chapter expansions for "free" plus some other perks.  But I personally have no problem supporting FUNCOM by buying DLC.

More than likely they sat afk collecting free bullion to buy pvp items. Don't know if this is still going  but many many many ppl were doing it at the time.
