It consumes me.
Every time I log on to do a little crafting I swear I timewarp two hours in 20 minutes.
I love getting 100% off normal items. Its like crack. When an excellent condition lines up with the perfect buffs; so satisfying haha!
Friggin love this game.

If you like crafting it doesn't get much better.

Enchants consumables, and socketed items.. what about actual gear for dungeoning?
Yes there is a point to crafting at endgame.
Potions, Food, Being able to socket materia in crafted gear. BIS jewelry is crafted jewelry atm(for most classes).
Currently gear progression goes as follows, darklight < crafted gear < af2/allagan. So basically crafted gear can save you a shit ton of time farming for darklight when you can have gear thats alot better by just having crafted set with materia.
Crafted gear while leveling is even better though often not worth it by how fast you can level in this game.

crafted gear is BETTER than dark light completely when you have overmeld it with materia.
also as i said, crafted jewelry is BIS for most classes. (yes, better than allagan jewelry)

dude...its not a discussion. its about fact vs drivel. crafted gear with overmelded with materia is better than darklight. you can't argue against this because its fact. it doesn't matter how much it costs which depends greatly on what server you're on might i add. fact is, crafted gear overmelded with materia is better than darklight which takes a shit ton of time to spend farming tokens for. (even more if you try to run with pugs). These are facts.
Also as i keep reiterating. The crafted jewelry is Best In Slot for most classes period. Again, something that is fact.

Sigh, you're one of those people aren't you. Ok fine ill play your game. Darklight gloves of healing vs Vanya gloves of healing. Darklight has +1 mind, +2 vit, +8 def, + 11 piety, +15 mdef. Vanya has +9 spell speed, +1 determination this is without counting ANY materia whatsoever. Overmelding means you count 5 materia.
Now assuming you get all Materia III cause IV is rediculously rare. If you got one of the main stats, 1 Materia III is +4 stat. If you got crit or spell speed, each Materia III gives +6 of that stat. If you got Determination, its +4 like the main stats. Do i really need to further explain why with OVERMELDED crafted gear(thats 5 materia) It's better than Darklight?

Yep I agree that crafted gear is far superior to darklight if you overmeld it .
I didn't bother with farming for Darklight since I was high level crafter and my current armor is better than Darklight .
I guess some people just don't believe it till they see it .
I know to some people, crafting the best gear in the game is all that matters. Speaking for myself, as a gamer who almost exclusively crafts in most mmos, it doesnt matter. Crafting bis is a cherry on top but thats about it. There are so many other facets to a great crafting system and FFXIV has most of them.
I love how people argue if you can't make bis then crafting is useless. So what if raid drops the best gear? So 10% of the population wont buy gear from you? Gee, what ever shall I do with a 90% market share hehe. Not to mention that 10% will be buying melds from you still. And also that 10% goes through way more consumables than the other 90%.
But anyway, forest through the tress and all that.

I'm the same as Foom - I mostly craft in games and one aspect of crafting that seems to be ignored is the crafted items for crafters themselves. I sell more HQ Crafting gear than combat hands down. Also - not everyone will be insane and level most of the crafting classes up at the same time like myself - I'm hovering at about level 30 for all crafting classes as well as gathering except for cooking...fishing and Alchemy (which I'll complete at a later time)
I don't buy any mats except the few needed from the professions I haven't mastered yet. My point is - crafting in itself is a huge part of the game...perhaps more so than the combat side....some of us craft just for the sake of crafting. If I decided to buy the mats I needed I would be at 50 across the board by now - but I LIKE to gather my own mats and really don't care about getting to level cap asap. I also have a White Mage at 31 and and Arcanist at 15.
Currently playing SWTOR and it's MUCH better than it was at launch.
That and not everyone has beat Titan yet, or is willing to pay some ridiculous price to get carried. Relic weapon isn't just handed out like the rest of the storyline quests, the Relic quest in and of itself takes some time and effort in some of the most difficult encounters in the game, unless you happen to be lucky enough to get carried through it.
Relic and BC gear may be better, but right now not a large population of the players can access the Relic, and way fewer have access to BC gear.
Crafted gear serves a purpose. It fills a niche for people who don't want to run CM 50+ times, it works suitably well compared to all dungeon gear all the way to the very top (the exception being iLvl 90). It's fodder for creating materia. It's great for leveling alts, when you no longer have enough quest rewards to supply your gear.

I play almost exactly the same.
I really think this game is catered toward 50/50 raiders/crafters. You can have a complete mmo experience doing either.
