I'm going slightly crazy. I've looked at so many MMOs but can't find one I like. I used to play a lot of WoW, but got bored of the world. I'd probably settle for a similar game, just in a different world.
So many modern MMOs look good but then you realise they're heavily instanced. I really liked Neverwinter but hate the feeling of being so restricted all the time on where I can go. Same with Vindictus. I really, really want a big open world and one that is mostly seamless to explore. Don't mind that dungeons and raids are instanced, I just want to be able to explore.
I don't like Asian MMOs. Don't like the art style. Anime is 100% turn off, but even Aion, Tera, Lineage 2 all look horrible to me. But I also don't like anything too realistic. Lotro for example just looks dull. I can't get excited about the loot in that game at all. Plus it's incredibly boring world to explore.
Don't care about PvP, never have, never will. I just want interesting PvE content and well written lore.
Don't like space themed MMOs. i don't mind a bit of sci-fi(Tabula Rasa) or post apocalyptic, but floating around space in a little tin can is not my idea of fun. I don't see the appeal of EVE in the slightest. A fantasy setting would be preferred.
Nothing too old. I've tried Everquest 2 and it just feels clunky to play and the graphics haven't aged well. The game looks ok in places but there are some really bad parts that ruin my immersion. Same with Vanguard, plus it's very empty.
Guild Wars 2 was looking like my perfect MMO but it has one enormous problem that I just can't get around. The level scaling is both a great idea but also a terrible one. One of the biggest reasons I play an mmorpg is to have that feeling of progression and knowing you're getting stronger and more powerful. I love finding an area or mob that I can't kill but then return later on, more powerful than before. Being level 80 and then returning to a lvl 10 area and getting killed by a rat makes no sense at all. So unless they remove the level scaling GW2 is a no go for me.
There has to be something else.

....your options limit you or us atleast for presenting you a game. There really isnt a large open world game with Non dated graphics...
Theo said fallen earth...I would agree great game..but it is starting to age
I would present Vanguard...also a game aging. Or Eve but Eve has very limited PVE
There isnt really large and open with beautiful graphics at the moment..and with no PVP
No matter how cynical you become, its never enough to keep up - Lily Tomlin
I thought Rift was dead?
I'm not sure what do you seek, confirmation maybe? You've said yourself everything in the O.Post...
Bored of wow, looking a similar game. "beautiful large open world, don't care about pvp" - that's LotRO, problem solved. "just looks dull" (actually I think with everything on Very High or High it's amazing, but different tastes I guess)
Then maybe EQ or Vanguard? ""clunky to play, plus Vanguard is very empty"
Well, that's leave Rift. Which you decide to play anyways. Then why's the thread?
And yep, nowadays instanced world seem to be the standard. But you wrote that as well, so it's no news to you either.
As long as you don't mind the game being "blizzard polished" I highly recommend Vanguard.
Highly.
oh never mind I see you played it.
Well, lotro and Vanguard are the only games I'd recommend.

You're looking for a beautiful, open world, and you're playing Rift? lolwut?
Anyway, I'd go with Vanguard or LOTRO. Both games have nice, open, seamless zones for the most part. LOTRO has instances in main quest lines and between expansion content, but most zones are seamless. Vanguard is almost 100% seamless and HUGE. Both games, despite being older, are still holding up pretty well in terms of world environment. Both games have horrible character models, though.
Rift turned out to be pretty boring. The zones are quite dull.
Decided to give Allods a try. Seems really good so far. Very pretty game.
I was quite surprised when I just leveled up and was able to assign stat points! Not seen that in an MMO for a long time. Old school!
