dont know if its dead. but so many vets quit its unreal. you have to understand one thing. the vets that left, many many had 3 to 5 accounts. crafter are in limbo, combat is just messed up.

example. i was fighting a bol ingame. i used  a special, ( didnt work) i tried to heal ( didnt work ) i tried to run didnt get away. i died. as i was laying thier dead my special went off then my heal went off. i was not getting lag. the game is just that messed up.

Its a goner to bad the few remaining players/supporters don't really realize this and leave to help bring another non SOE run SW MMORPG sooner , but nooo a few of these fools will be parted with more cash before its said and done.

Man thats messed up. What about that guy that has 6 kids and works at the front desk.. He probly doesnt even work on the game or play any computer games, but he will probly lose his job becuse you want everyone to stop playing it.  Then SOE wont be paying to feed his kids anymore, everyone will be paying to feed his kids becuse he will be on wellfare.

Move on already. This isnt the 60's you dont have to protest every single thing that happens.

Well the guy at the front desk can and should maybe take THAT up with the real reason he lost his job and I guarrantee its not the flaming upset vets but the SWG/SOE/LA management/dev teams.
And it wont be because the OP wants everyone to quit...the people are and have quit and they have spoken as a matter of fact they are still speaking.....imagine that , must be something to it.
This guy at the front desk you speak of should go fill out some aps at blizzard and a few other great companies to get a head start...hell he should actually quit himself before getting fired...I hope this front desk guy is smart for his kids sake.

    ho ho.......ho

No, I chose not to play SCANDAL games. This game is too much of a drama to stand. They have removed my game I totally LOVED for more than 2 years.

Hooray for the MMO history's worst companies!

Pawn.  A fitting name for the person who would post this kind of rhetoric.  "Pity the receptionist", keep buying a broken product from people who virtually spit on you after taking your money.  And really, if it comes down to it, SOE will no doubt cut the man's benefits and replace him with cheaper labour even should their cheap crap become a huge success.  You can't play the bleeding heart and the corporate weazel at the same time.  Not unless you have a scathing case of MPD.

People SHOULD cease to play it.  Sony SHOULD be forced to produce reasonably complete product of acceptible quality with at the very least standard service -- or suffer the real world consequences of a failure to do so -- loss of business, leading to loss of stock value to reflect their lack of delivery.

The game is far from dead at this point no matter how much you want it to be. Dont trust the 20 page petition threads on the original forum. SWG players are the biggest bunch of crybabies in any mmo, they will happily make 3-4 alt accounts just to support their cause. And even if a cancellation thread reached 500 pages it would still be a very small percantage of the actual playerbase, not to mention only about 30% of the posters would have the balls to cancel.

Players saying the game is dead should log in and check bestine or mos eisley.. There is more pvp in the NGE then there ever was in the CU and pre CU.

I don’t remember the age but I think the original game had an end user license agreement that you had to accept every time you started the game that stated on one under (fifteen).

Again I don’t remember the age but I know it was older than the six year olds it seams to be geared to now.

The ones that are playing now must be the six year olds.

This is not the game I bought, and paid for three accounts for two years.

I loved the game a lot even after the CURB, but it is just not playable for me any more. That is why I come here to protest and bitch.

For the ones that say move on and let it go, I would love to if I could find another game as enjoyable as this one was before NGE.

So until I find another, looks like this is what I will be doing.

This is a lame reason to support a bad product. If we take your anology another step you'd see that once SWG dies for good another MMOG will lure those customers away causing a need to hire more people to handle the increase in subscribers. So the guy in Dallas may lose his job but someone in Seattle (or wherever) who didn't have a job finds one. Economics shows that once a job is liquidated it doesn't necessarily mean that it's truly gone it may have migrated.

The people who are playing this game are no longer posting in mmorpg.com forums as far as I can tell.  I know I still play, but rarely even read these forums anymore because all they are full of is hate, disappointment, and whining.  I will tell you that the game is far from dead and many vets are still playing while many vets who quit sometime between pub9 and the CU are returning.  A large population of pilots has remained and there are many guilds that are thriving better than ever due to the dissolution of guilds.

All you have to do is go to Krayt graveyard, mustafar, DWB or one of the corvette themepark entrances to find vets.  Want to find newbs?  Go to Mos Eisley, Mos Espa, Bestine, and Anchorhead, or even go to Jabbas.  Want to find ATK entertainers?  Go to Theed.  No you never find 50+ people in any one location, but you do find people.  After this last patch granting second slots to all players you will even find more.

Bottom line, the game may be dead for you, but it is not dead for everyone.

Don't forget Xos image  At least on Chilastra, he always has at least 3 full groups waiting for his 15min spawn timer.  Kashyyyk is now busy again with the addition of XP to the quests there.

I say its dead, I have logged in and noted it several times in this last two weeks and there is far far less pvp than used to be. Also of note it seems that about half of the people I did see were afk protesting till their closed accounts timed out. And what is really meant by SWG is dead is it has way less people playing with little hope of gaining many new people since it’s a very poor game, some new people may find it a little fun doing some new quests but they wont stay after that because the NGE was only geared to attracting new people but not keeping them

Example: you have 10 guilds with 100 members each, after the NGE 70 people quit from each guild leaving 300 people and 150 join one guild and 150 join a second guild leaving 2 guilds that are “thriving more than ever” LMAO you’re an idiot my friend

Guess what, I played on Bloodfin (not even the most populated server in its day) and you could ALWAYS find 50+ people in most of the places you mentioned hell at peak times 100+…………….now sadly enough your lucky to find 10+ people in those locals. And ya man its dead enough to make the management at SWG kill the game soon or make more major changes over a badly coded game that’s filled with bugs and lag etc.

Honestly, your rhetoric oozes contempt for anyone who is still enjoying what used to be your game.  And do not call me an idiot Warsong, you do not know me *at all*.  State your opinion, but just because you can hypothetically produce a situation where SWG if failing through some fuzzy and unsubstantiated math in order to contradict me does not make me an idiot, it makes you someone who will twist anything to appear correct.  My statement stands:  Some guilds are thriving, others are not, I said nothing more than that.  I did not imply that all guilds were thriving.

I'll tell you what though, since we are calling names at this point, you are a liar or have some serious memory loss.  I too have a toon on Bloodfin and those claims on numbers of people are out and out lies.  I have not seen 100+ non-afk player characters in multiple locations on any server in nearly two years.  There are times that it has spiked that high in one or two locations, but never in all the locations I listed.  I believe that your memory of the past is slightly distorted.

And by the way Warsong, if you hate SWG so much, why even come comment here other than to answer the OP's question?  In no way did I try to mislead anyone in my post.  Did you just come here to pick a fight with the first person who said they were still playing?  It seems that way to me.  Why don't you go kick your cat (dog / girlfriend / wife / kid) instead.  I am sure you have taught them not to stand up for themselves by now.

Oh, I am sorry, I made an assumption about your personal character without even knowing you.  Does it sting of irony or hypocrisy?

    Good bye, Warsong.

To EbeOne.  In all honesty, the NGE is not for everyone.  When you read people's comments in here about the game being in beta, they are not lying.  Currently I still find the game fun, however many of the "new" features are not working correctly or are awkward for even veteran FPS players.  The mechanics of SWG have been discussed in many threads, however I tend to call it a FPS / Turn based hybrid.  If you are used to the old SWG, either pre-CU or CU, you will come into the game completely shocked.  On top of that, there are only 9 professions to choose from (you have to choose when you relog in for the first time), and 2 of those are now essentially defunct crafters (not many people are actively pursueing crafting atm for many reasons) and rarely seen entertainers.

On the good side, contrary to popular belief, there are people around to play with.  No, not hundreds at every location, but enough to get done what you need done.  Once you get used to the gameplay and FPS style, the game can be pretty fun.  Note that many of the "old bugs" that SWG had in the past tend to still exist in one form or another.  However there have been many improvements.  If you are considering taking up SWG again, I suggest that you try the 14day trial if SOE is still running one.  It will help you get accustomed to the new gameplay.  Coming in on an old main character can be quite, hmm, overwhelming.

Its agruements like this that have turned me away from SWG.

I'm a 2 years Vet from day One. And the NGE has stole / ripped all my progess over those 2 years, and has ripped all of the community into shreds. The family away from home ,I like to call it ,has lost the mother rock of that family. My Character is reduced to the same level as someone that started 2 months ago, if not lower. I'm going to WOW, or some other MMO that is released in the near future, just from the simple fact that i feel cheated and manipulated out of my time and money that i have invested in SOE's trip of deceitful lies based on the mighty dollar.

I wish anyone that is stayin with the game, good luck and I hope you get as much of enjoyment that I have gotten out of it in the last 2 years.

Honestly, how long has that account been active before you canceled it. What kinda of character do you have developed on that account? I'll put money its not a full templated jedi that your grinded out your self pre-NGE. Straight up the only ones that are really getting burned extremely bad are the ones that have the most time invested in the game.

There are a lot of people who would disagree with this statement.  Namely:  CH, Ranger, Pistoleer, Doc, Carbineer, Rifleman, TKA, Swordsmen, pikemen, fencers, and probably all of the crafters and entertainers, just to name a few.  At least your Jedi is still in the game as a Jedi, regardless of what you think about the state of his/her abilities.  However, that wasn't your point.  I do agree that people who have "invested less time" into their SWG characters have less to "lose" in NGE.  In reality, I am sorry to see you go Vex, as you are on my main's server and that means one less person where I want to be able to remain with a healthy population.
