  Just curious, does having a second job reduce your effectiveness in your primary job?  I am considering a couple options, are any of these good?

  Hume Red Mage

  Hume/Mithra Thief/Samuri

  Hume/Mithra Thief/Ninja

   

  I dont really know anything about final fantasy or its classes so any ideas about those combos would be a bunch of help.  Thanks!

  Your support job doesn't reduce your effectiveness of your main job.Hume red mages are really good. Thief/samuri wouldn't be as effective, probably unless they have really really effective weapon skills. Otherwise I'd go with thief/ninja or ninja/thief. Those two work very well. I'm interested in being a ninja/thief, thief/ninja later.

  So if I was a Hume Red Mage, what would be a good second job?

  Im also confused, how can you be a ninja/thief instead of thief/ninja?  Dont you have to be one of the base classes (warrior, monk, thief, various mages) first and gain a certain level before you take on a second job?

  You wouldn't be able to start out as a ninja/thief. You'd have to get thief to level 30 so that you could do the ninja quest and then become a ninja. If you did that you wouldn't have to level thief until your ninja was past level 60.

  If you wanna do wield one handed weapons I'd consider a job that is most skilled at a one handed weapon. For instance, warriors are most skilled with two handed axes. That's not to say you couldn't use swords, but they'd hit for more with a two handed axe (obviously), even more so than another job that wasn't as skilled with it. They also get all the weapon abilities for those.

  can anyone tell me if a black mage and dark night combo would work well together? i liked the idea but as a dark night needs to be proficient in weapons will the black mage be able to cope?

  If this wouldnt work whats the recomendation for a black mage? summoner?
