I must say, I am stunned by how horrible the community is to this gameso far!

I have played SWG for 2 years untill it was ruined, and I totally loved the community, the best I had experienced so far. It was fully enjoyable just to play as a roleplayer witout touching the game content. When looking over at WoW or other general games like Diablo, runescape, CS and so on, the communities are totally dumbed down.

How could it be everyone is actind like arrogant kids in this game? Is it because it is a "beta"? I truly hope it changes over time because if I am going to stand playing a MMORPG the people who are playing have got to be clear in the head.

What have I seen so far that is so horrible you might wonder? Let me list it for you:

1) Rasism, people who are hateful against non-english players.

2) Trolling in the forums, the forums are being filled with idiotic posts that have no valid points or helpful tips towards the game.

3) PK'ing, very many that are acting dishonorable calling people Noobs because they lose in combat and so on.

4) Arrogancy, players doesen't seem to know what the word patience is and when someone might suggest one player that asks too many obvious questions that they should read the manual they response that reading is for morons.

Go ahead and post your community experiences :P

The more MMO's become popular, the more you get the rest of the people (personalities) in this world. Good or bad, it's just who we are as a people.

(I did prefer the old days of helping each other and learning/growing together.. now its all about "AHH WTFPWN U N00B" thank god I'm good at doing that as well)

he is right, certain games have out of control community's where people say anything they want and act like 12 year old's.

when a game attracts the younger player base (most pvp games do) i think that makes it alot worse, I'm not saying i don't like pvp games but they just seem to attract a immature player base.

this is why I'm looking forward to vanguard, I'm hoping their community will be alot more cooperative and mature. ::::28::

don't worry this entire project is doomed.. it will never see the light.

Thing what I am trying to figure out is how there is still 140 idiots browsing their forums right now after SoG thinking DnL is going to launch with all it's features in 4 months. F'en amazing.

Where did they find these people?

Dunno what game you have been playing mate but not same as me. Especially in game. Everyone asks same questions within the chat chanel on SOG and all i have seen up to now is people be helpfull.

As for people calling other people noobs cos they got pked happens in a lot of games.

Solution to prob. Make a few age capped servers(not DNL im aware)...Ahh what a sweet dream
  • It's pretty much tradition in MMOs for the worst to come out in people when the game is down.
Someone being denied their drug of choice is never pretty.

Also, in my experience, MMO forums tend to only be frequented by 20-30% of the game's population, including the worst 10%.

I can't blame this crowd though, these companies have jerked the DNL community around more in two months than most MMOs do in their lifetimes.

There's always going to be stupid people in gaming communities.  For some reason, rudeness and arrogance just come along with anonymity.  I've noticed the same things in all game forums.  So-and-so wants to be the best, and believes he is, and berates and puts down anyone who disagrees.  Just... whatever I guess.  Blow it off, who cares, blah blah.  People have egos, and moreso in games it seems.  Because we can't run around stomping people in real life, so we have something to prove in a game.  Or something.

As far as the community in SWG, I agree that was an incredible community.  Yeah, you still had the morons and the drama queens and the "I PWN ur m0m" types, but overall that was a great bunch of people.  SWG had something different within the game though.  A lot of games claim to have "social" aspects beyond simply speaking in spatial chat with other players.  Usually, that means they have crafting, or something called "Social Experience."  With SWG however, they really DID have something different.  The Entertainer professions.  Those alone attracted a whole different type of gamer, and a whole new aspect to the community.  I'm not saying the people who played those professions are the sole contributors to the community, but that aspect opened a whole new part of MMOs that just isn't there in other games.  Even your average combat types, your powergamers, and your crafting people got into the social world that was in SWG.  It was just an awesome game.  WAS.

This is a game with open pvp.  There is nothing wrong with that as a game feature but it does have one unavoidable side effect.  It draws idiots like feces draws flies.

    nuff said really...

i long for idiot free PVP, where people play for the challenge and sport of it... i remember CS was like that at one point, but popularity kicked in and it started to go down hill when the idiots started to spread and show their faces on public clan servers, or form clans of their own...  its when idiots get organised that you have to worry...

anyway without so much digression on my part, i dont think its fair to judge DnL by SoG and the community that managed to get one of the limited 10,000 keys

Yes, there are some individuals who are terrible here and spout racism across the board.  However, just report them and they get banned.
