Please, God, Don't Be A Click-to-Move Game

StellusStellus Member UncommonPosts: 263

I hated Lineage 2's controls. I absolutely hated the click to move and using the WASD resulted in your character "powersliding" left and right. Since this game looks identical to Lineage 2 in every way (even the characters run in the same fashion), I am praying the controls are not.

Does anyone know as a fact what the controls will be? I think a click-to-move interface would totally ruin any chances of me buying this game.

I don't think the elves run like the ones in lineage, you know the dark elves. The ones with bondage gear and you know :P.

There are actually two modes in this game. Default is mouse mode where you click to move. But you can change it to keyboard mode which uses the keyboard to move.

Right there are two modes, keyboard mode for WASD and moouse mode, I like the fact that there is a mouse mode because sometimes i feel lazy and want to just play with one hand =P As for the WASD mode, it isn't like L2's "WASD" mode where your character moved all funny, it actually controls a lot smoother, so i hope that puts your fears to rest.

As long as the WASD controls are as smooth as they are in every other MMO I've played, I think I can handle =)

Stellus I had the same prayer ::::02::

WASD ftw. My favorite and most smoothest controls IMO is WoW so if they can copy that ill be one happy fella.

Only nice thing about click and move is; you can click on something far far away, allowing you to leave the comfort of the butt carressing chair, get a drink and come back to find that you're still running along, making a train for all others to admire.

I find click to move is to your advantage in this game. You spam hotkeys in this game A LOT. ESPECIALLY POTIONS. Using click to move lets you focus your left hand on doing hotkeys.

I would compare the hotkeys in this game to "bard twisting" in original EQ.

Dunno, but I have never liked W-A-S-D (inverted T shape) and always changed it to the easier-to-use Q-W-E-S (T shape).

    Whatever.

    I have to ask, though:

Is the WASD movement as smooth as it would be in any other normal NA MMO? The reason I ask is that even before Chronicle 2 (which brought about powersliding in WASD), the WASD in Lineage 2 was still janky. It would hesitate after the release of a key because it was trying to coordinate movements with the mouse click system at the same time. I don't mean to sound picky, but nothing would make me happier than to see the controls truly optional, and not forcing the player to use one or the other because one is mediocre.

in CoH, you can click-to-move, mouse move (by holding down both mouse buttons), WASD move or (as I have done) rebind the movement keys to the number pad leaving my keyboard for hot keys.

Me loves having choices!  image  I tend to use the numberpad for ground based moving and the mouse-movement for flying (better for all directions fast!)

Awesome, good to know both are an option.

Oh gawd, you had to remind me of twisting ::::06::
Took a long time but you were a queen..or king I guess..if you mastered it.
    Have a great day all!
