That said, I just came back to AoC for a brief revisit and had loads of fun making the Americans and russians figh in global about who saved europe during WWII. Most fun I've had in a game since 2008.
So they merged everything finally?! Excuse me I gotta drop everything and jump back in RIGHT NOW, I bet the global drama is beyond measure
Not everything, that will be the final step, just the server types, so now there's one server for PvE, oe for PvP and one for BG PvP.
And yep, we were used to the multilingual chat on Crom, but when they merged the US server into us it was hilariuos in the first few days, there were a couple Pulp Fiction-esque moments about language differences http://youtu.be/a0x6vIAtFcI
Originally posted by skyline385 I am thinking of starting it too (to pass some time until Wildstar and TESO) but i have seen most of the people (even on the official forums) say that Funcom has given up on the game with no content updates/patches or anything which makes me wonder whether they are gonna pull the plug. So, is it worth starting this late?
Yeah well, at least leveling to max level in either EQ2 or AoC should give you some good weeks of fun. End game might be hard to catch for new comers though, but the leveling should be cool.
If you sub and if you are at end game and if you have the latest expansion. What is the content like, are the raids worthwhile, how long do they take? Are they puggable? Are Guilds active? If your on a pve server can you get an instanced pvp match easily and is it fun? Is end game crafting worthwhile?
Are funcom pumping out content at any decent speed for the monthly sub?
Cheers
Khitai is quite challlenging. I have not been on the Kithai raid but from what I remember:
Khitai which are the endgame zones have 2 aspects. 6-mans and reputation grind. Reputation grind is exactly what it sounds - do repeatable quests, gain rep, buy gear/pets/mounts when you have enough rep.
6-mans are a bit of a pain for new players since they are so hard that most groups will require you to have Gear/AA/Exp. For the first month or so you'll have to count on your guild to take you to the 6 mans and teach you the ropes. Some of the 6mans are PuGable but if you are new you'll get screamed at (a lot) unless you stick to PuGing the easiest one on Normal Mode.
The "old world" raids are still going strong, possible to PuG them now that so many people have Khitai gear. Endgame crafting is not worthwhile and no FunCom are not pumping out new conten though they did promise a crafting overhaul (again) recently.

Seriously Farmville? Yeah I think it's great. In a World where half our population is dying of hunger the more fortunate half is spending their time harvesting food that doesn't exist.
Go to wild lands after tortage, it's very open area for your level and fun to explore. My advice is to take your time with the game leveling and enjoy, it's one of the best for that. Great challenging dungeons to run thru.

I actually prefer the game after Tortage.
Anyway, the most open area after Tortage is Gateway to Khitai. If the OP is looking for a more open experience than that is the place to go.
I want open space like LOTRO can have for exemple, so it's cool. I did know Tortage was kind of a tutorial, and it's good news if it opens up after
Don't get me wrong, AOC is a decent mmo with great graphics and one of the best combat systems to date imo. As for the game being open like lotro, well you are going to be disappointed because it's a box and you have loading between each area like EQ2.
Best combat? Having after certain level for mele to use 5 keys combination all directional? Is that fun? Having toolbar filled with that silly key combinations instead of real spells? Game was fun for me up to some moment, while was enough to have 3 keys for combinations max was acceptable... but later they lost me. Somehow better with casters with no need for that kind of combos.
