I know what I want, but not where to find it...

Hi folks, bet you heared the same story over and over but I hope theres a chance you will isten to it one more time...

I am an old WoW veteran, played the s**t out of it in the old, some may say, golden days of the game and never had so much fun since then. Started pretty "casual", just doing some dungeons(10 and 15 man) in classic, switched to raiding karazhan and co in bc and played hardcore pvp with wotlk. Midway of the cata addon I retired, tried to come back soem times and failed miserably, I think I just grew out of this once glorious game. I like the story and the setting but I just cant take the contend anymore.

So I stopped playing MMOs for some time, just switched between popular ones like Aion, TERA or Rift and never found something that realy sucked me into the game like WoW did and yes I know, there will never be a game that could do so again ^.^"

So thats the short version of my story, the long version contains pretty boring stuff like failed attempts of finding a nice and social community/guild and so on...

But here is what I am searching and what I would like you to help me to find....

-I love graphics, I want a stunning environment, something to explore and so on

-PvE should be solid but deosnt need to be awesome, I dont mind a grind as long as I can play my character its okay

-some class variety, should be more than the stereotypical 4 classes warrior, rogue, mage and priest

-I like PvP, arena, rvr and open PvP

-I like the old carrot on a stick thingy, doing something, get a reward, become stronger, repeat...

-I would like to have a the choice do be social in a game, I like playing in groups, having a nice guild and overall nice com.

So thats pretty much it, games I shortly looked into and seemed somehow interesting are:

-guild wars 2

-TERA

And thats about it... The new Final Fantasy game slipped through my radar, please tell me if it could be a possible choice for me...

Oh yeah, two more things. If the PvE is realy realy good (great boss battles, good group contend, nice community) I could oversee lacking PvP contend.

And last thing is, I am from germany, so the game should at least have a international, better would be an european, release.

Hope you can help me, I have got time till monday before I can get it on with a new game, so I am waiting for a weekend full of recommendations :)

If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game.

FFXIV has great PvE, but it does not have PvP yet. The next content update will bring arena like PvP, but most PvP content isn't coming until later.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

I would recommend you give TERA a shot. I'm playing it now, and having a blast. The only problem I think you might have is the servers. I play on TERA NA and the servers are stable and support is pretty spot-on, but I've heard a good number of people say that Gameforge (TERA EUs publisher) is pretty terrible, and have constant server crashes, an unbalanced cash shop, and nearly non-existent support. I cannot confirm this as I don't play on the EU side, but it seems that if you can connect to NA and get stable ping, that would be the best route.

Unfortunately as for international players, on NA the only nationalities I have seen are Americans, Canadians and Brazilians. I don't know if it would be problematic trying to find German players such as yourself, or other EU players for that matter.

Like I said though, it is worth it to give TERA a chance. I think you will have a lot of fun. I hope I may have helped a bit in your search. And if not, I wish you the best of luck in finding your perfect MMO.

    Best Regards,

    Atlys

P.S. I just realized I didn't mention gameplay at all, but I believe it checks off everything you are looking for. It is one of the most fun MMOs out there.

You could try a 2 game soloution
    Planetside 2 for pvp
    Secret world for pve.

    Neither have subs, so doable.

I am sad to actually say this but,

if your looking for a solid nice community then stay away from Tera, even back in its p2p days it was nothing but trolls/dicks/drama..

I recently gone back to it b/c I love the game but just bored of it after making 5 lvl 60's... things i noticed when i went back

this was on the biggest PvP server btw

    MT:

No one open world pvps anymore

no one does freywind canyon anymore, its all about the CS bg now which sucks..

I seen a ton of request for people to queue up for 3's rank/un-rank so i am guessing thats not going on anymore either..

Sad b/c I cant find a game after playing tera that keeps me interested, from the combat to the pvp to the dungeons I loved it all but the pvp is gone now..............

ff14 hmm bought the ce edition and stop playing it a week later, there is no pvp..

The next update they are getting some kinda of arena(big circle) that you can fight each other..

i found it fun for about a week.. but then got bored...

Give it a shot I guess if you want to drop 50 bucks on it and play on the free month that comes with it,

The new Final Fantasy was exciting and new for a week or two, and all of a sudden I had no interest in it. It didn't really have enough to do for me. It was pretty much just leveling and that was all. And it was grind-your-face-off-tastic if you want to level all your classes. I wasn't going to spend $15 dollars a month I couldn't afford to play a game that doesn't offer as much as some free to play games. Though I admit it was a gorgeous game, and being a part of the world of Final Fantasy is pretty neat. It just wears off fast.

I think it will ne either gw 2 or final fantasy for me, both look kind of stunning to me. I will eigher have to arrange myself with no pvp of ff or the akward class system of gw2...

Will be a hard choice to make :-)

from what you've said above i would guess that FFXIV is going to be more your style than GW2, though GW2 is a great game they are both quite different in their approach to mechanics.

FFXIV has some interesting classes and such and is very  much an old school level up and grind raids at endgame.

an infinite game for the purpose of continuing play."
