In January I'll be stuck inside for a couple of months . And I've been waiting for a good game to keep my attention. NOTHING has come out even half way decent. Neverwinter was terrible, EQ2 has run its corse .Star wars, Eve , Guild wars. Nothing to talk about.... World of tanks i believe is the best game i've played this year, and the sister plane game too. When is someone going to put out something worth talking about for more then a month. We love talking up a game to only be disappointed. And i love when a company lets you preorder a game that will be out sometime in 2014 to 2017. Right!!! Sorry all, it's been a real disapointing year game wise..

i feel ya man.
i have enjoyed a few games this year, but they were actually all discoveries of older games or relaunches.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.
Path of Exile is my favorite game so far this year, other than that Star Citizen hangar module (can't really count that) and 7 Days To Die (still in alpha).
So yeah other than Path of Exile everything else is in alpha, but I would rank PoE as my GOTY at this point.

if you didn't enjoy anything released in the west this year you could always just route your IP to a South Korean IP and give one of the many new ones there a swirl to burn time. Why wait for Archeage beta when you can hop on a live server in Korea...
Barring that, go check out Shroud of the Avatar, if it interests you, donate and you will be able to get into the alpha test in December, be in the beta test AND get a copy at release...the forum community there is actually troll free with...I know this may come as a shock...actual DISCUSSIONS taking place not only in the community but with the developers as well. They actually WANT your feedback and ideas.

No it really is not and it isn't a MMORPG either. It is highly mediocre.
There hasn't been a good MMORPG in like 6 years now. Closest was GW2 and even that is so heavily flawed I can't call it good.
I like some aspects of the game, it's just really showing its age visually. Maybe when the new character models come out that won't be an issue.
You need a KSSN(Korean Social Security Number) to play Korean MMO's.
You know, I was fully intending to give a list of games released this year to try, then came to the realization that most of the games I've really enjoyed came out in 2012.
There's still a few 2013 releases though!
Dishonored has had two very good story DLCs released this year which are worth a playthrough in their own right, and the base game is also quite good if you haven't played it.
Tomb Raider, released early this year, is hands down the best game the franchise has seen since Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Although myself and many others were / are annoyed at the lack of single player DLC (come the fuck on, Crystal Dynamics) it's very much worth picking up.
Deus Ex HR: Director's Cut just came out a few days ago, so if you haven't played the original I recommend picking it up. If you own the original and the DLC, it's only $5 for a bunch of tweaks & added features (New Game Plus being the big one, IMO).
I've heard good things about Saint's Row 4, and 3 is dirt cheap on Steam right now.
Of course listing Bioshock Infinite is a given, and you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't play it.
MMO-wise FFXIV is very good if you like themepark MMOs. If not, skip it.
That's about it. Boy, 2013 has really sucked for new games...
if you want to pay for an old game with pretty features buy ffxiv,
you will just get more depressed.
I dawn loaded path of exile 3 times and now on the third time the game out of beta is good
free and better than diablo 3 try it.
you forgot probably the two best games to come out this year, The Last of Us and GTA V
I've yet to find anything that shows up on this website that was good so far this year.
I played PoE for about a week because my friends wanted me to. I never found it very enjoyable at all.
Just to question the philosophy. Army of Socrates.
I didn't care for IV, so I doubt I'd like V. I also don't own a PS3, so haven't played The Last of Us although it looks pretty good.
Honestly Final Fantasy has a LOT of initial depth to the game with all the facilities that it offers. I would give it a shot. If you are looking for a guild/community check us out. Here's a 2 month recap on our community (multi gaming).

As far as MMO's go, I'd have to agree, 2013 was devoid of anything worth noting. But for games in general I'd disagree, several great titles came out, most of which are already listed above by others.
I'm glad to see others who agree that Path of Exile wasn't all that great. It wasn't "bad" just nowhere near the hype/praise it's receiving. But then I never liked diablo style loot-whoring games, they bore me in minutes, far too shallow a gameplay mechanic.
To find an intelligent person in a PUG is not that rare, but to find a PUG made up of "all" intelligent people is one of the rarest phenomenons in the known universe.
neverwinter is free and good to play, darkfall looks like the real thing but their is to view people playing it.
December shroud of the avars alpha is coming out,we will all have to wait for everquest land mark.
Doesn't feel like much happening mmo wise, at least as far as i'm concerned. There are some other things to do outside of mmos though if you want to try out new things.
GTA5 is cool and AC4 just came out on console. Other than that, there are a lot of really great games that are several years old and if you haven't tried them you might want to give them ago as they are much cheaper than at release. The rts games are mentally stimulating but like all games require time.
Reading your post though I sense a restlessness. We all get older and our tastes can change. Also, there is real life out there. Nothing wrong with taking a break and seeing what is out there.
Take care.
i think im the only person who didn't care for Dishonored. it is a solidly produced game, i just didn't feel satisfied with it at all when i finished. im not sure why either.
what i was taken aback by was DX:HR. simply sucked me in completely, ive racked up hour after hour in that game and played it through beginning to end several times now. but again not sure why ...
typically im not a GTA style fan, but SR:3 was pretty fun. there's not much to do endgame except blow things up, but that can be pretty fun in itself. i particularly enjoyed the fact that the game did not take itself seriously at all. i honestly find it hard in serious games to simply run people over and/or shoot them. (ya i know, im weird that way.)
ive also gotten quite a bit of play out Far Cry 3. the storyline is intense and borderline schizoid, your character that is at least. and ive had real fun after resetting the enemy encampments and playing guerilla war with the AI.
