DNL a dream come true

Hail, to all those who support or fire DNL ,
I just thought of droping some lines to defend MY DREAM and let all know what do i realy think of this game. I have never and ever appriciated a game as much as DNL. I have spend half of my life (many years) behind computer, playing and trying many different games, but none have ever touched me as much as this one have. Lets admit that SOG is full of bugs and needs lots of working and fixing ....but it worths the wait. I sincerely hope that Farlan entertainment will come up with very serious commitments and improve it all from A to Z and give us sharper and up to point, reliable, fast working performance with attack, loot, spwn etc , etc ,etc, etc commands! There is a long way to go. Despite all odds i finaly managed to log back , 3 days ago. Some problems are fixed , which is a great sign.
I really want Farlan to be able to succeed. SoG is just not a good 1st impression for the public. But someday DNL will be a real bug free GREAT and UNIQUE mmorpg game. It'll be something to play and stick to for years and years and years!
Well thats all folks , have fun and see you in the game.

DNL is huge, the ideas are new , this aint like any other game that i have known so far. I tried SOG, and still doing so. Improvement is there , and things keep geting better. You must understand DNL is a HUGE , with limitless new ideas! In this game you wont be doing the same thing on and on for years . So think about the vast work behind every and single graphic action, commands, senario ! Seriosuly i'd say even 6 years aint enough !
I guess it'll be nicer and wiser to stop complaining and let FARLAN get things done nicly without any pressure.

"DNL is huge, the ideas are new , this aint like any other game "

what ideas are new? Theres no new ideas in DnL. It's just a pvp game..

I could go play Dark age of camelot right now and get all the ideas DnL wants finished and working..

My concern is that the company is too small and does not have the resources to implement all their great ideas.

A huge game with many diff complex systems is not easy to develop or maintain. SWG with their army of developers could not manage their complex game code, and the result was a severe dumbing-down of the game, with most of the "new and unique" features removed or sidelined after 2 years.

If SoG is a reflection of the current progress on DnL, I have serious doubts as to whether the game will ship in April with even a fraction of the planned features. There's only 4 months left before April, most MMO's at this stage have everything in place, and all that is done in the last few months is debugging and tuning the systems.

I wish DnL all the best, but I think there's only so much that can be done by a small team. But who knows, perhaps miracles still happen ? image

I doubt it , i'm afraid the game is not fully rdy to be released in april ! Theres a long way to go , but i'm sure Farlan going to come up with the right stuff to complete and full fill its goals.  I wish them well too .   A fix date is not  the problem .  What realy matters is just to see a bugless, functionable dnl even if it takes them longer.    Worths the waiting.

I have tried DAC , played it for a while  , thats why DNL is a dream come true . I hate to compare but DAC is not my type of game !   I played the lagy and bugy SOG , and yes loved it.. but not with it's problems and bugs. As i said it needs lots of fixing . But when it's done, then you will give it a try and then prolly think of me and things i said today , here about DNL.

    • No zones, no loading time, all Dark and Light players within the same world
    • A complete, original and easy-to-use automated transportation and warp system
    • A medieval world of 15 000-square-mile of land (not including seas)
    • A strong emphasis on immersion thanks to a horizon view up to a distance of 30 miles away.
    • Fly in the air without restrictions with your own dragon, glider and parachute
    • Choose to explore whenever you want, no need to fight on a daily basis.
    • Hot spot management system: wherever you are in the huge world of DnL™ , you can call for or be asked for help to conquest, fight, defend.

Experience an unprecedented immersive environment :

    • Dynamic and unique weather management: a DnL™ day is 84 minutes...take time to watch sunrises, sunsets, the Milky Way and constellations!
    • 480 days per year, with 4 seasons: real-time weather changes from snow to rain, to beautiful sunshine.
    • One sun, two moons and a constellation management system that changes according to the time of the year, and has influences upon crafting!
    • Global ecosystem: some monsters feed upon others, crop fields grow according to the seasons…
    • Original soundtrack : more than 12 music tracks, 1h30 of captivating music

A new medieval fantasy MMORPG where game design led to strong requirements: a game with a long lifespan, and advanced management options

    • An immediate sensation of freedom thanks to the unique world
    • Entirely dedicated to evolve according to gamers in-game decisions and strategies: DnL™ game rules will allow gamers to manage their own DnL™ storyline, create their own events to set their plans of conquest or fortresses attacks.
    • Six main game-play systems devoted to perpetual evolution through gamers’ actions
    • Fortress attacks governed by an open time-line per realm
    • Warrior NPCs you may hire to fight for you
    • Choose the Bandit Mode; become a soldier of fortune with an enhanced experience, but many risks at hand!
    • A deep storyline that allows rich and varied game options and opportunities
    • A Game-mastering team in five languages entirely dedicated to enhancing the role of players in a truly interactive scenario: English, French, German, Spanish and Italian

Master DnL™ while experiencing two evolving axies for every character: combat and social:

    • Choose whether you wish to specialize or not, in harmony with skill trees for every character
    • Rich career paths: choose between specialization and versatility
    • A political organization that allows you to become a lord, baron, count, duke, and even the king, by bargaining, negotiating… and being smart!
    • Trade skills and jobs are set up to allow you to develop your character without having to fight on a daily basis
    • A new resource discovery process
    • The combat system allows you to assault a fortress or to besiege sources of mana

Introducing a deep and addictive storyline

    • 13 realms: three non-PvP kingdoms, ten kingdoms to conquer (PvP allowed)
    • 12 races, 14 classes, 27 equipment slots per character and many specific slots per skill
    • The Gods’ history and characteristics are the roots of the Dark and Light universe. They create their race’s respective background and, according to Human beliefs, they influence races actions and choices, both in combat and craft

ya I could make up a features list promising the world too...   99% of those features are not even in DnL yet after 4 years of work. Maybe they'll be there 4 months from now.

Limitless new ideas are useless unless they're actually acted upon. The DnL developers are not acting on them, they're just writing about them and claiming they exist, when infact they are nothing more than words just like those on this forum. You'd have to be extremely naive to think that the game will possibly attain even 1/10th of it's promise at this point.

    Hi WildBeauty,

I also have high hopes for DnL. Haven't loged in much yet, because i prefer to wait for the crash to be fixed, but so far i like what i see, considering this isn't maximised or anything yet. Bug free MMORPG? That would be the day, hehe, you know there is no such thing image. But some game bugs are more annoying then others, so I agree the signs are good if the team is fixing this prequel (is the crash fixed?) and this isn't even the main product.

I cant speak on behalf of Fralan and those who work hard , day and night ! But you never know, things might work out well  by April,  or later.
My point is don't underestimate things  , because if Farlan give up on this unique and potional project someone else will take over and do it. I rather see Farlan do it  than other. And they can . At this stage i guess , those who supported dnl  must stop trash talking and behave like adults and wait till it happen.  Besides being small doesnt mean they cant !

Hello there, 100% agree with you.  "Bug free MMORPG? "  rofl  , i havent seen any yet ! You are right.   Well let's  cross fingers and hope that someday we'd be able to play DNL . I have tried SOG! Oh boy the first week was  a real mess and i was wondering if this could be real ! Yes there were some errors , bad organisation  etc and etc but  what realy matters now is "what i see" and feel in SOG.  Loved the graphics, music, and  very limited things that i could  do so far :) .  There were some  changes and things seems to be runing better. nothing is over yet, this is just the begining :) We must prepare ourselves for  worse or best ! Anyways i'm not going to give in yet.. no way ! GO GO FARLAN :)
keep hopes high and see you in the SOG soon

Well this game works for me.  There is alot of work ahead but there are certain aspects in this game that I have always wanted.  I love exploring more than anything and I can do that here for a very long time.  I am one of those peeps who wants to see what is around any given tree, hill and/or mountain.  I don't need to be max level, have the shiniest sword or be king of the hill.  So, this game appeals to me.

Quite frankly, I cannot get enough of it.  Between real life commitments and login server stability I can't wait to explore.  And, I gotta say that flying the drakemount is absolutely the funnest thing I have ever done in a game. ...image

getting better buy the day and alot more stable i think the devs been taking the approach to drop stuff ingame in small steps which seems very smart as for the graphics they look very good and the peeps who r complaining that the y need a) a new computer or b) some glasses . game does however need a decent system to run i have a amd 64 3800 1 gig ram and a 6800gt seem to work decent, but for this game i will be purchasing a 7800gtx.

that needs a decent system to run? those graphics look like they were made 4 years ago.

You want to know whats funny.

I have the following specs on my Work PC prior to its upgrade:

    Old Work PC Specs:
    P3 600mhz
    512 RAM
    Geforce 420 MX

The ONLY game it was not able to play at tthis time was EQ2

Now this is what I use now at Home:

    Home PC:
    P4 2.4GHZ
    1.7GB DDR RAM
    ATI X850XT 256mb

Now I tell you what, SOG is a VERY big let down for me so far.
Its initial 1st impression is horrible.
I have Beta Tested and played various release MMOs in my Old PC that looked and ran better than the current SoG version.
If you think that SoG's current state is revolutionary, then you need a reality check.

show me one better and dont say ddo cuase thats a instanced piece of garbage better off playing nwn and hmm Roma haha no graphics r terrible in that, maybe pirates but thats gonna end needing super high specs. all the main movie title rip off games will fall flat on there face. eve is good but that game has more a cult folllowing and more for pvp types, anyway good luck with the flames dont care much for this site anyway more for kids

  • jssand2jssand2 Member Posts: 65

Basically this project has suffered from major "scope creep" with such a small project staff. This is where the game should be when alpha testing is started. No way will this be ready in 4 months to compete with other games in the genre.

So i guess you people never heard about a little game called mourning..

Looks about the same quality as an environment screensaver. Too shiny, too fake. I've played the game myself and the graphics are not good at this day and age. At all.

But I guess some people will just refuse to accept the truth that is right infront of them. You just better not come here complaining about the game once you realize what it is after all this fanboyism.

I heard of Mourning and unfortunately Beta Tested it.
I so hope this don't become another game like it.
But playing SOG atm on its current state, I do NOT see it being released w/ all teh features they promise going to be available by April.
It will take a MAJOR Miracle for it to happen.
I have yet to Beta Test a Game that is in this same state as SOG that is ready for release in 4 months time.
