World of Warcraft: Rumor of the Day: Scaled Dungeons & Experience?

What's so fantastic about this? Guild Wars 2 has been doing this by default for ages.

As for Swedish Chef, people solo the Story mode dungeons and other dungeons just the way they are. Going into a level 40 dungeon as a level 80 character isn't going to be a challenge, if that is what you are looking for.

It's good if World of Warcraft is *finally* coming around to the new paradigm ;-)

I would like to see scaling content based on level, and number of players, for all content in MMOs.

I realise since so few do it, that it must not be as simple as City of Heroes, Champions Online, DDO and others make it out to be, though.

for a candy themepark like WOW, this feature would be a earth shattering experience.

Its the only way it will ever work... and not only for dungeosn but also for open world zones....

In these older MMO's there is so much content that noboddy ever sees anymore...

    If you

    A) Make it challenging again

    B) Give people a reason to play it

It creates near limitless content in these older MMO's,  which is a good thing... downscaling is the answer... the ultimate answer.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

In my personal opinon I think its a good move however I cannot stress this enough to Blizz.....this should be an OPTION!! Not what happens automatically....This will then allow those that would like to go through as a level 90 able to do so.

I have no problem with changes that INCREASE access to content my subscription is paying for - e.g. giving my solo or co-op character the ability to enjoy all the current areas that are 'group' restricted to 5 players and above (dungeons/dungeon finder/raid) and being able to earn Achievements WITHOUT requiring completing mandatory PVP quests on a PVE server - IF this is going to remove my ability to access dungeons that were already group restricted in the first place hence requiring having to 'go back' when a higher level just to see parts of the game I'm already paying for then this will be another nail in the wow coffin for this subscriber.

DEFINITION OF REALITY: Graphics ok, Sound ok, Gold drops need more work...

I dunno I have played WoW for nearly a decade. Would scaling the old dungeons and raids be a good thing?

Well they could be. Sure bringing the challenge back to the older content could be interesting. You would have that challenge of facing the old bosses with new players again, run the risks and gain the rewards.

However what about turning those dungeon and raid quests into weekly quests? For rep or even scaled rewards or possibly reward bags that offer special mounts or items. Now im not talking high level gear, but say things like cosmetic items. But they could also have bags with level appropriate Items.

Now on the flip side I for one dont like how they have changed the lower level dungeons... I preferred the old Dead Mines over the new one.  And Scarlet Monastery.. that one has been tragically scarred....

im just saying that if they decide to do the scaling, they should attempt to make them worthwhile for everyone as there is a large amount of old content that just wastes away for the larger population of WoW.

Played: UO, LotR, WoW, SWG, DDO, AoC, EVE, Warhammer, TF2, EQ2, SWTOR, TSW, CSS, KF, L4D, AoW, WoT

Playing: The Secret World until Citadel of Sorcery goes into Alpha testing.

Tired of: Linear quest games, dailies, and dumbed down games

    Anticipating:Citadel of Sorcery

No. Elitest jerks, no pun intended, are the reason I hate running lowbie dungeons and barely stand max level dungeons now. This would be a game ender for me.
