This project is a cross between an 8-bit CRPG & a sports management sim. The closest thing to it is "Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King" (WiiWare):

You manage parties of adventures and send them into dungeons for loot & xp... very deep class/skill/loot systems.
