    Are these the same guys behind the failed Trials of Ascension "hardcore sandbox" MMO from 6-8 years ago?

    If so, they already failed to make this game once. I'm not sure why anybody would have any confidence in them doing it successfully this time around.

    They didn't fail to make the game back then. The people who would have invested in the game wanted them to change it so it was more mainstream. They refused to change it and shut it down because they ran out of money. They are now back trying to do it on their own instead of mainstream investors. That is why they cut down on the features/races so they could have a better chance of getting it out.
