Extra Life's annual game play marathons brings in tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of revenue for children's charities around the world. In her latest column, Genese Davis talks about Extra Life and why it's a good thing for kids...and gamers. Read on!
You might be wondering, out of all days, why this Saturday? The reason is because the Extra Life gaming marathon charity event begins the morning of November 2nd with plans to go strong, all day long. Extra Life is a gaming marathon in its sixth year already. Extra Life was founded in 2008 to honor the memory of Victoria Enmon, a Children's Miracle Network Hospital patient. This event has grown to become the largest charitable effort in the video game industry with thousands of people getting their game on to help children in need.

Love this event and have donated to multiple teams this year. I'm particularly inspired by the LOTRO team, which had almost $40k raised last time I checked.
"There are at least two kinds of games.
One could be called finite, the other infinite.
A finite game is played for the purpose of winning,
an infinite game for the purpose of continuing play."
Finite and Infinite Games, James Carse
I am participating for the third year now and I really look forward to the event. I am with Team Trion and will play Rift for most of the time. Name is Gilnidor I am on Argent[EU] feel free to say hello if you visit ^_^
I love to do this and I am doing all I can to raise the goal I have set up. Because it is for a good cause indeed, all the children that gets a extra life through the help of all the players and game studios participating.
