Ive played many mmorpgs, as well as many beta tests of them. recently i decided to try Eve online out. Now i made a trial account and what the fuck is up with the auto patcher. NEVer have i seen one worse, it takes a couple mins to connect only to say could not connect verification failed. The faq says that i just have to keep doin it till it doesnt crash..... um well written programs should not do this..
now i decide to download the patch manually and what do i find out of 13 manual patch downloads they dont have the version i have... So i guess now because they're bad patcher i must d/l the 500+ megs which is a major hassle. I was about to just cancel the d/ls and forget it after seeing how horrible the autopatcher is.
So is the game this frustrating also, and i cant imagine others didnt have patcher problems?

There. Thats the patch you need. I am assuming that you D/L the free trial just before the RMR expansion. The FAQ is full of baloney. Trying to download the patch from the login screen will just cause you grief.
Now that we have the main issue cleared up, I would just like to comment that if you are already frustrated with something as simple as patch problems, then this is not the game for you.
Good luck
So you played a lot of MMORGPGs, even in Beta, and right after a new expansion is going live you never experienced problems ?
The patch for RMR is 64 MB, not 500 MB like you claim. Even if you downloaded the old client its not such a hassle. Besides, following the links on the Eve homepage you find the patch as a single file. Since you where able to create this account especially for this post, you are obviously familar with reading instructions on websites.
I smell a Troll. And not even a clever one.

bro you completely misread the reason i was even upset.... i was upset because I couldnt just download the RMR patch, because they didnt have a manual update download of the version i had. You talk about reading instructions on websites yet you fail to even miss what my ENTIRE post was about, you read the first 2 sentences and proceeded to try and rip me apart. I dont post for self gratification, i do it to ask other gamers.
it turns out btw on the website they mislabeled the version. I had version 2.05.3366 right, look at the link yourself and there is no link for that, only 3363 http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp
I tried downloading the 2.06.3366 just in case they in deed mislabeled and what do you know, i was right!

Here ill post your idiocy again for the others to laugh at. I said,
"what the fuck is up with the auto patcher. NEVer have i seen one worse"
Now you think im talkin about all the games problems, uh maybe you should go learn to read.
I just grabbed the patch, thanks! Now, if someone can please advise me how I am supposed to reactivate my account when the damn server keeps showing 'internal error' when I try to access the subscription page ...
Any ideas? I can't get in game if I can't re-activate.
AHH there we go.... just tried again, looks like they fixed the account server.
First thing I had to do was get rid of those godawful red windows LOL!
Hmmm and now it's telling me to do the tutorial again? Why is it that every major content patch in EVE causes that? Anyone know?

Still in: A couple Betas
No offense, with as slow as their site is for US players there is no freaking way I would re-download the entire game again at this point LOL they REALLY need to post a torrent file for it.

You mean as simple as CCP making their auto-patch function work?

they dont do it in torrent because they try to get you to use a download manager. Ive never used one but it seems that it would work better then torrent because it would let you resume like torrent, yet your still at the faster connection of a normal download. I dont know about you but those torrent files are always waaay slower.

Haha. Touche!
You got me on that one.

Note: PlayNC will refuse to allow you access to your account if you forget your password and can't provide a scanned image of the product key for the first product you purchased..... LOL

lots of weed... did i give up nope, i made it work bitch
my frustration came from my disapointment in Eve's auto patcher, i had high hopes since ccp is so good. (or is it cpp? )
just play the sodding game before you start whining.

The autopatcher only works if you have a version that *can* be updated. Some older and/or "obscure" versions of the game (especially some fast patched versions) can't be updated because there is no patch for them tp the current version. An other possibility for failure of the autopatching is serverload, usually after a major update. I used the autopatching several times before and I have never encountered any problems.
Even if it maybe slow for some of you it is still in some cases better to download the full client, especially if your current version does not show up on the patch page (in that case its usually required). In the end it will save you time and nerves.
