Very cool. If it doesn't already, it should have a dice roller and voice built in to better facilitate games over a distance. This would encourage me to play again.... The main reason I stopped was the logistical nightmare of getting 4+ people to one spot at the same time.
Small Dev Talk: How is the co-operative play going to work? Will it be online or will it be over Bluetooth? Will there by voice-chat or text based chat when paying with others?
The playsets team: Online play is definitely where we want Playsets to live, connecting friends all over the country that can’t always be around the same table is very important to us. We would also like to include the ability to just connect over wi-fi / Bluetooth for those times where your group is in the same place but you can’t get online.
We want to include a voice chat functionality, but don’t want to have to do it in a way that passes along a lot of cost to users, so until we find a satisfactory solution we rely on backgrounding applications like Skype or other VOIP solutions.
We do have a plan in the works for a feature that will allow you to view and share images and PDFs within playsets. It is still something that is in the testing phase, but our goal is to allow players to have access to character sheets, share images of their characters, monsters, puzzles, letters, etc. or anything they want to share with other players during a session, while still remaining rules agnostic.
there are several special features we are looking into specifically for the game master, controlling the view of players is one of them, we have not settled on how we are going to limit player view of the map yet, but that is something that will hopefully be answered through testing.
As for counting squares, there is currently no mechanism that displays the number of squares you have traveled, but when you move a token, it leaves a ghost behind until you finish your move, so you and all the other players can see the distance you moved just like on a real life board.
