How can RF be the most anticipated game coming?

asdarasdar Member UncommonPosts: 662

Is there something I'm missing. It looks to be imbalanced and with very little dev communication to me. I'm not saying the game is bad, I've never played it but nothing I'm hearing makes it sound impressive.

I like a couple of the concepts, the 8 hour war, three faction pvp and the sci-fi skin but I'm shocked that it's the most anticipated on the site.

I hope I'm wrong, I'd love a great PvP game.

Don't forget that it looks like it's gonna be another grindfest.

I won't impart my fanboiistic views on what should be at the top, but suffice to say RF shouldn't.

there has never ever been an mmorpg released that isn't a grindfest. the only diffrence is that in game A you grind mobs for xp and gold, in Game B you grind quests which means killing mobs for xp and gold. oh, and in game C you grind skills.

Games in beta always get hyped, then usually fall off the charts when people realize that it's crap. On the other hand...if the game is decent, it may stay at it's current hype level.

Keep in mind, the MMO market is pretty damn bleak right now. So any news of an upcoming game that seems to have potential is going to send people into a frenzy. Just look at DnL for the perfect example of this effect.

OMG DnL: SOG is coming out I can't wait! SOG is out, watch it's rating now *points to the toilet*

I get the feeling I say this too much.

Did it ever cross your mind to try the game before trying to judge it? Probably not, as someone that has played both jRFO and phRFO. I'll say that someone on the outside looking in (Read: You). Could not possibly understand why the game is currently the most anticipated.

    In War - Victory.
    In Peace - Vigilance.
    In Death - Sacrifice.

You should win a prize for the dumbest post of the day.

The people hyping the game don't know jack about it either. They watched the 2 very cool anime adds and though OMFG that game looks awesome. The most hyped games on this site are the ones who can make thier game look the best in the shortest amount of viewing time. Screenshots, cool features ( that may or may not really be in the game ) and DL movie clips. They don't get to the top by having well informed posters giving it an honest rating.

Well i played the PH beta and from my experience the game is pure garbage. Its like they spent 99% of the time developing charter models and the flashy cutscenes then spent the other 1% blancing the game and working on content. The game feels like it just came out but in reality its bean out for years.if your the average joe that gets up at 7 at work at 8 home bye 5 and with the family till 8 skip this game like the black plague. If your some mope with nothing bettter to do with your time then kill 7456762435 mobs so you can go gank newbs and have a flashy gun or whatever i guess this game is for you.The epic "mine battles" make wish i could set up my own hacked planetside server rolled back to how it was at launch.

i played ph beta and the game is really good...looks alot like lineage2 but doesnt play like it..the grind isnt as ahrcore as l2 either i lvled really easy... Maybe people should try the game before hyping it or slagging it off?

I played it, and it was just another grind fest. The community was terrible... kill stealing ran rampant, and nobody had any respect for eachother. That right there is a game-killer for me, because games usually bring their community with them.

The graphics were nice, and the combat system was ok, but there are serious balance issues. Decent game, but nothing I could play for more than a week.

Question do you play world of warcraft? if so you should think about what your just wrote. Nearly every mmorpg has problems that you might not like and i might like... once everyone (well a majority) have tested the game then we shall see how it fairs. Personally im looking forward to playing the beta (im in).

No I haven't tried it and haven't flamed the game itself.

RF being the most anticipated game is the only thing I was talking about.

What I based my statement and post on were the fact that I don't see how anyone could want the game I'm seeing. I'm a board hopper and every RF board I go to is devoid of developer presence, the fans seem frustrated and when there is a poster from a foreign beta they never seem happy.

I'm not trying to knock anyone's game, I just don't see any anticipation for RF in the places I'm looking. If I go to any other anticipated game forums I see a dev presence, I see rabid fan boys, I see people either dying to get into beta or into the game.

DnL had all of those and apparently is having some trouble but I could understand the anticipation. Anticipation doesn't equal a good game, it just means that people are eager for the game. I can't believe that RF is the most anticipated.

My Opinion : Try The Game Out and see if you like it.

My Second Opinion : Look for a "GOOD" game to play....big grindfest in-game and even if you have the best lag- free computer in the world i doubt you would be able to get an hour of solid game play with no disconnections and long periods of lag.

Third opinion: Maybe if you were not playing  a beta from halfway across the world you wouldn't lag so bad. Also, every version of RFonline is different, the American release can have a a higher exp rate among other things to allow people who can't handle having to work for anything to enjoy the game.

Are there people really complaining about ballance and disconnects in a game that's still in beta ? Please stop applying for beta testing.

Btw, RFonline has past lineage 2 in Korea in number of players, and you know how crazy they were over lineage. They have bill boards with the race signs on them in Korea. Another thing you need to know is the main devs for the game are in Korea, they make most of the major changes. Codemasters will be able to make minor changes. Also, people in the US want the beta and love it so much that they try to play it in other countries betas. As for DnL, that game is Mourning 1.1.

I really don't mean to bash this game or disappoint anyone looking forward to it.  Unless they have made many changes since the game was first released oversees, it's honestly just Lineage 2 with different graphics.  It plays the same way, the grind is the same, the economy is the same as well as the PvP aspect.  Just different race-types, different skills and the graphics are a bit better.

I must admit, it looks really good.  But I've played it and IMHO it wasn't worth testing let alone buying.  They may have made many changes for the US release and it could very well be completely different from what I've experienced.

I guess we can all just hope for the best.  image

do you have any proof for those numbers or are you just making things up? as far as i know, Lineage 2 still holds the top possition in Korea.

I think RF Online could be a WoW killer. I just wish, however, that I could play a trial, or demo before I went out and bought it. Thats what a lot of MMO's are missing, IMO. They dont have an easy access trial or demo to play when the game is released. I run on a medium-end computer. Meaning, I can play WoW, but not at the best graphics. I want to play a demo of a new game before it comes out so I can see if I can enjoy it on my current system.

im not saying RF is bad but i wouldnt hype it over roma victor, DnL, and a variety of games that in my mind from what ive read are more innovative.

but then again if its really really good it doesnt need as much innovation for a lot of people.

I don't really get it... It's really pretty, but there's not much else to it than that.

Character customization is poor. Most of the options at character creation don't matter past level 3 or so, when you've already found new gear (to replace the options of what clothes your char is wearing when it's made).

On that note, there's not many choices for gear. You'll most likely be wearing the exact same gear as everyone else your level. There IS a best set of gear for each tier, so if you want to look original, be prepared to have worse defence.

When I played, classes and races were imbalanced, from a Cora's perspective anyways. Coras ALL level with magic, simply because it is the strongest. There's no restrictions on armor if you're using magic or ranged. Oh, and ranged kind of sucks. In the arena or whatever it's called, Accretia and Cora always had to ally because Bellato mechs were overpowered.

Quests blow. Kill/collect quests, very boring. No tradeskills.

I kind of like the idea that leveling up other skills besides your main gives you advantages in stats... But it doesn't make up for the lack of other things.

Of course, as always, this is just my opinion, and it's not my intention to offend any fanbois... But I think it really blows.
