An MMO with a lot of Skills

CamShirayukiCamShirayuki Member UncommonPosts: 23

So, lately I've been looking for an MMO like Runescape. I loved how Runescape had a bunch of skills. I've been trying to find another MMO like that. Where there are a bunch of skills, and with each passing level you unlock something pertaining to that skill.

My computer isn't the best and I would prefer F2P games, cause money is tight around my house.

Path of Exile is a pretty good arpg mmo, like diablo 2 or 3. The skill chart for it is extraordinary.

I tried to get Path of Exile. Was hoping it would work, but alas, it didn't.

Oh, you need a game with different machine specs?

Try Everquest 2. It released in 04 and has an ok f2p, and subsequently middle-road payment model, but the lower levels will be a ghost town I think.

The only game I can really directly compare to Runescape would be Mabinogi.

If you can get past the art style and the fact that the game isn't polished so much, Mabi is oddly complex.  Like Runescape, you're generally dumped into the world after character creation and tutorial quests, and can go out and do whatever.

The game has a whole lot of skills, many more than Runescape, but the grind doesn't come with skill XP really - the grind mostly exists in 'AP', which is needed to rank skills up.  You get 1 AP when you level, with options to 'rebirth' to start back at level 1 for the quick AP again, as well as doing daily quests and events for bonus AP.  Skills generally have ranks that go like: F E D C B A 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1, so getting an individual skill to cap isn't hard like Runescape, but getting a whole skill group to rank 1 is.

The only criticism I have of Mabi is that the cash shop can give you quite an advantage, especially when considering mounts and rebirth cards.  You get a set of free mounts these days which will be fine to a normal player, but if you really want to get hardcore into the game you may need to fork up money.

Oh, and the game is F2P.  It has a 'subscription' option but it's not like Runescape's sub option - you have access to all the skills and so on.  It also runs well on dated computers because the game is fairly dated itself.

Would something like this be enough? These are the core ones, should you advance further youd get class skills also. If so it's RF-Online.

EQ2 has tons of skills but everything is so easy to kill that you jsut use your 2 best attacks/spells and everything dies quickly.....In groups everything is AOE....WHile you'll ahve 4-5 hotbars of skills on your screen most of them are totally worthless.
