I signed up for DDO, jeez maybe 2 years ago?? I mentioned that I had some D & D experience and that I also have played a lot of MMORPG's so maybe that's what got me in I don't know.
But after a couple of days of playing i'm thinking about stopping. I mean the game is cool and all, and I've only logged in a few hours, but it just didn't catch me. I'm starting to think it's just me.

Well, Im not in beta but was playing the Stress Test and loved it.
When that ended on Saturday I was gutted. So if you want to give up your beta account I will happily take it off your hands.....
But if you want to try this game a bit more I would suggest you find a good group and go adventuring with them. Its all about the group if you ask me. This game (like the PnP version) is all about getting a band of adventurers together and having fun. Solo play isnt really an option later on.
First impressions are usually the right one but on the other hand maybe you should give it a little longer before you make judgements
I've been in beta since early November, and I'm not impressed.
I have been pinning my hopes on Vanguard, and after looking at the way they are handling combat, it's the way combat should have been for a D&D game.
Gah! Thats 2 people in this thread who are in beta but dont like it!
Lemme play! Lemme play!!!

You really have to get into the higher level quests to start seeing some of the cooler things in the game, once you get out of the harbor and into the market to start to get into the more challenging quests.
I think the best thing that these 2 guys could do would be to give me their accounts......
I'm level 7 so I've tried pretty much all types of quests. What really kills it for me, is that it does NOT feel like D&D, heck it barely feels like an MMO. I mean, walking into buildings and smashing crates and getting bonus XP for it, I mean woo how engaging. Combat is no more stragegic than spinning around like a top mashing the mouse button. No this game definately comes up short of the epic adventures I think of when I think of D&D.
I can't get past the feeling that it's D&D, yet there is no exploration. It feel like City of Heroes with swords
