    There is currently no pvp.

I enjoy tanking instances as my Level 33 warrior. I really enjoy that I can log on, inst-queue as a tank, run 1 instance and get off again, often with better tanking gear. People seem friendly also, only had 1 bad pug in about 20 so far.

Playing: Darkfall New Dawn (and planning to play Fallout 76)
Favourite games have included: UO, Lineage2, Darkfall, Lotro, Baldur's Gate, SSX, FF7 and yes the original Wizardry on an Apple IIe

It's a fun game, quite polished in fact. It doesnt really break the mold of past mmorpgs, but that may be a good thing. Dungeons and boss fights actually require some strategy, it also makes GW2's dungeons and boss fights look like they were made by kids, so it will definitely keep your attention on that front.

You can be as many classes and jobs as you want, though you will be required to level each different class separately. There is an interesting dynamic in mixing certain class skills though if you move onto a job (more specialized role) that selection becomes more limited.

The scope feels a bit underwhelming, especially if you watch the opening cinematic. Buildings and the major cities still feel like small outposts instead, and nothing feels nearly as grand in scale as GW2.

No pvp and I doubt what is coming (arena) will be any good at this point and time. Some classes are just unbalanced and will have obvious advantages, especially over classes that need long casting times for skills.

Good news is that its sales are surprising everyone, including Square Enix. The success of the game has caused them to focus more on their online franchises according to reports and the producer of the game promised big updates with more content every 3 months.

2.1 will bring player housing as well along with the new armor and weapon sets for example.

In short, its a good game to invest your time into, its not ground breaking, but the polish and dedicated from the development side is a breath of fresh air.

I havent been back to the forums here in atleast a month now.   I can say honestly as a person who liked EQ, EQOA, EQ2, WoW, FFXI, LOTRO, and Skyrim, that this game is a really really fun game.   The end game content is very challenging and very pug orientated.   You can do all the primals by hanging out in Reverant toll (troll).   There is so many things going on end game right now, its very very active and lots of content to go through.   2.1 is coming in december, so if you want to be ready,  get a character up to 50 as fast as possible doing main storyline.

If you love quests and storyliens in RPG, i can compare this to Mines of Moria Lotro, the number 1 expansion ever.   Its that enjoyable.   the main storyline is the quest with the flame around it.   Your in for a ride, i wont spoil it for you.  Get into an FC that helps and runs dungeons with you till you get to 50.  It'll make it alot more fun.

Good luck and hope to see you in game.

It's worth playing to 50 once, and getting your first relic weapon. But that's about it. The game is severy lacking in staying power.

That review is ridiculously biased and contains far too much speculation & misinformation, and furthermore the numbers he throws out don't match what he's written.

It's well written for sure, but completely inaccurate.

AN' DERE AIN'T NO SUCH FING AS ENUFF DAKKA, YA GROT! Enuff'z more than ya got an' less than too much an' there ain't no such fing as too much dakka. Say dere is, and me Squiggoff'z eatin' tonight!

It's worth a try but it really isn't anything new and a slower paced combat which it's FF so that's to be expected.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Coming from GW2 here are the main differences.

XIV has a very small world, no pvp, far inferior combat, better graphics, very small portions of world that you have to zone and load into, no water movement at all - can't even swim on top let alone under, invisble walls almost everywhere to stop you dropping off cliffs and ledges etc, xiv works with the trinity system which means upto 1-2 hour queue times for dps classes.  I think that's about it, it has other problems but those reside in Gw2 too (bad endgame design, fast leveling, poor story etc).  Oh and you have to pay 12.99 a month to play this of course, whether that is a plus or negative is upto you.

I would say yes if anyone did anything but grind FATES all day. It may not be the largest world but its a nice one.

PvP is coming in Patch 2.1, and will be released in Dec.

so far PvP will be a 4 vs 4 arena style of PvP. and later on there will be some RvR types of PvP with Frontlines.

but there aren't many details about Frontlines atm.

    Hi,

Well, i was like you, bored of all MMO that are around. Played wow, rift, swtor and GW2.

A friend of mine told me to try FFXIV, I saw some videos and some forums, nothing really grab my attention. But i did bought the game and tried it.

I must say I was very surprised with the game, sure it have many things that can be a turn off, like the invisible walls, can´t swim or go under water and the loadings everywhere, but at the end I am enjoying very much the game, it´s been fun and the bad things are not enought to quit the game. Got into a good FC with nice people, and i´m loving it...we´ll see...
