Ive heard a few rumors floating around about it, but nothing that seems plausible, does anyone here really think they are working on it?

I haven't seen or heard anything about a Diablo 3, however I've read up on the new Starcraft: Ghost that Blizzard is developing. It's a FPS game though which is kind of a turnoff. I miss the RTS style of the Starcraft games.
There isn't going to be a diablo 3. Never will.

I do think a Diablo 3 will come out

Blizzard would never loose all thoose fans that play that game, it would make them loose money, making a diablo 3 will give them tons of cold cash

Try to compleate diablo 2. after destroying the soulstone the voice will say "no one knows what will happen next" there will always be evil in the world. and there will always be wierd heroes to slay them hack n slash style

are you guys insane, Hell ya theres gunna be a Diable 3. That thing is a HUGE money maker. And the story isnt really over. It will be awhile after WoW calms down but there will be one for sure. Blizzard knows where the money is at. Diablo 2 had to be one of the biggest selling games of all time I knew people coming up to Canada just to get the Colectors edition that were sold out where they were from. However Blizzard has 3 major selling franchises so as always it will take forever for it to come out

New Cartoon graphics, a new land to walk on, changing it to mmorpg!, Almost exactly like WoW!
There will be swords. You'll like it.

(Don't take me seriously, after they made WoW pay to play, I'v been disappointed so far. They lead the free online gaming.)

of course there's gunna be a diablo 3 i mean.. look at warcraft they made 3 of em... plus the expansions AND world of WARCRAFT wich is warcraft based...im assuming.
anyways my point is i definetly don't think blizzard would make 3 warcraft games and not 3 diablo games i mean comon...

Blizzard/Battle.net dropped the diablo series years ago, if they made a new diablo i would play non-stop but im guessing they just wanted all the diablo fans to go to WoW.
Diablo 3 would be the best mmorpg EVA! But thats only once blizzard finally realises people loved it.
Tho if I was blizzard since diablo was set around the black magic & black smithing times I would make skills that make items, and add mining like runescape but 3d'er, better graphics and make it so a 70 sorc cant beat a lvl 99 barb.
Ive not played very much of the diablo series however I do not believe that there will be a diablo 3.

I think their will be a Diablo III, but if you guys remember all the delays from the original Diablo II, it might be quite a while before we see it. Same with Starcraft: Ghost, i'm not looking forward to this game very much, i'd prefer another RTS in the form of a StarCraft 2 (I would so camp the store for a copy of that, even if I didn't have too...), the attention I have paid to it had me really confused, I wasn't even sure if it was out or not! Just remember though, even though Blizzard kicks major arse for creating Starcraft, Warcraft, and Diablo, its still a money-making machine. Diablo III will happen.

I wish they had plans for a diablo 3 SOON i dont think we can expect to see them plan for anything new for diablo for a while at least late 2006/ early 2007 and thats just when they announce something we wont see d3 for a while im afraid and they rnt even touching D2 they came out with a patch at the end of this summer and thats the last we'll see anything on anything "diablo"for a while

ok firstly diablo ISNT an MMORPG its an online action RPG. Get it right people.
Secondly, there will be NO Diablo 3.
Why you ask?
Half of the diablo team, including the entire art department that lead the diablo games, left blizzard to go work on Guild Wars.
Sure, they can make one. But with the original art talent, and concept designers gone... its not going to be your beloved diablo anymore, its just going to be some lame game slapped with a familiar title.

Update: Lanth mailed in to point out this tidbit from Stefan Scandizzo's bio on the Castaway Games website:
He continued his level designing in Diablo IIs expansion: Lord of Destruction. In 2000, Stefan started producing 3D monsters for the character team for an unannounced upcoming sequel.
Stefan worked on D2 and D2X, before leaving Bliz North back in 2003.

More Diablo III rumours today thanks to a tip from Red E. Meer who says that a show on the Space channel in Canada about SF art called Visions From The Edge which was broadcast Friday evening Dec 02/05, and to be broadcast again Sat Dec 03 at 5pm EDT, had a piece on an artist named Peter Beveridge. One of his pieces of art briefly displayed what appeared to be a demon with the word Diablo beside it and three vertical strokes running through the word Diablo.
What more evidence could you ask for?
There WILL be a diablo III.
It was announced on Blizzcon.
