AO needs some love

JorevJorev Member Posts: 1,500

Anarchy Online appeared on the MMORPG best MMO list recently then lost ground to Planetside. Anyone who hasn't rated AO yet, please do and help keep it on the best MMO list where it belongs.

You can't get a better value than AO.

But I'm not sure that the game play value versus money spent scale is what is being voted upon.

From the home page, click on "more games" on bottom of page, then click "Anarchy Online", then ratings tab.

My question is this. I have a lvl 30 agent I started a few months back, (got tired of the lvl grind), if I come back now, is it worth it if I do not upgrade? I loved it at first but like I said, I grew tired of leveling, will this happen again with the content, or have there been changes to the base game that will keep my interest...la

i dont think the game is that big of a change from when you played,
but since its free look at the value.

    try it.

Try crafting more, or a differient prof more aimed at crafting/healing.

    Maybe you'll be happier there.

If you'rtired alrdy at lvl 30, I think mmog isn't really for you.
    OR
You'r dooing something awfull wrong like not learn all the aspect of the game and playfield.
Go out more adventure, trade be a miljonair be a crafter be the best damn RP agent out there, start a guild / join one ...
Do something else then just hit the grind mill.

Level grind at thirty..? At that point in the TOTW I can't level slowly enough. Everyone wants go take down all the Legos between Lien spawns and before you know it you need to blitz a whole new set of armor to twink into.

Yes, leveling sucks. I have played UO for 5+ years so training in that game is different than any other game on the market. I have started back in AO and have a 25 lvl fixer. So far it seems a little more fun since I know what I am looking for now...la

The game is the same as it was a few months ago.  In all reality, if you did not like the game then, you probably won't like it now.  However, the game is free and your old character will still be there, so there is no harm in trying.  Unfortunately, since you only got to 30 you really haven't learned much about the game so it will be like starting all over again.  I recommend you do a little more studying about ways to make money, things to do other than missions, and join a guild if you choose to return.  There is no need to upgrade to the expansion unless you plan on really competing in Notum wars or really decide you want to level significantly faster (SL experience is significantly better even solo).

IMO the most fun of AO is raiding in a guild, but if raiding is not your thing, then I'm not sure what to tell you.  My account subscription will end in another month and I have not decided if I will continue or not.

AO is great, I play the free version and it is really funand indepth.  The only thing that stops me from upgrading is first the year free subscription :p, and the graphics engine needs an overhaul.

    Sounds like someone needs

    A.  A really good guild (many to choose from in Omni, Clans and Neutral)

    B.  An upgrade to Shadowlands

    C.  Both of the above

The graphics in the SL expansion areas are a great deal better than those on RubiKa and it opens up the game into areas and content that more than double the size of the game.  Being in a good guild transforms the game drasticly, giving you access to a lot more fun, cluing you in on places you haven't been, dragging you into more social play (which is where this game truely shines) and introducing you to new friends and possibilities.

And Wepps.../hug /lol....whatchootalkingboutwillis??  YOU still play swg, you big nut.  Your girl may be prettier, but it's like going out with an autistic supermodel with an alcoholic booking agent.  You can joke about MY date when you pick up a better one yourself.  /wink

The biggest problem I see with this game is the fact that few people play it. Back in the day groups were really easy to get, now you are lucky to even see anyone else. I suppose a guild would be somewhat of a fix, but I don't see that fixing the problem of this game being a ghost town.

Funcom screwed up with Shadowlands. The graphics are great but it split the game. It was the release of Shadowlands that made the game do a downward slide.

Don't get me wrong, Shadowloands was a great expansion, but really they should have either made Shadownlands into a different MMORPG or skipped to something like AI which expanded on the Ruby-Ka world.

All of my characters rely heavily on buffs and I can never find anyone to give them. At one time there were spots in the game where there was always someone handing out buffs for tips. Now those areas are empty. Too bad, those were some fun times.

I dunno what your talking about
i always can find people easily
places i see are always populated
    i think Shadowlands is great,
and i dont see what split graphics has to do with it,
since if you cant play shadowlands,
    you probably shouldnt play this.

Read my post a little closer. The graphics in Shadowlands are great... but unfortunately when Shadowlands shipped it split the player base between two huge worlds. Right after Shadowlands launched I could barely find anyone in Rubi-ka or Shadowlands so I quit.

I agree that places are always populated, but this is all in perspective. To me populated means I can find aa full group for any area at any level on most days of the week. There was a time when I was able to do this. There was a time when the Bronto Burger area was so full of people that my computer was lagging out. I could always find any buffs that I needed. Basically AO once was like a well populated WOW server and people were everywhere.

I know I am not the only person that feels this way, I have seen plenty of other people complain about this in the reviews section.

I will say that if you are level 200 you probably have a better chance of getting a full group. The game seems pretty top-heavy in this regard. There is not a great balance of people throughout the full spectrum of levels like there once was.

Right now one place where you can usually always find a group is fighting hecklers. At one time the whole game was basically like this. You could get groups that fast anywhere.

Im reinstating the point of this topic.
AO is fighting with EQ2 for a spot on the best mmo list.
If you havent noticed, it switches daily.
If we get aos rating .1 up it will have a secure spot at like 4 or 5/8 instead of this.

    everyone knows ao beats eq2.

    Vote for ao,
    get it a secure place.
