Best current MMO (or single player) game with Dwarves

GameMonger71GameMonger71 Member UncommonPosts: 122

I cannot help it, I just love playing dwarves in games.  I really wish GW2 would add them, but of course ArenaNet will not do that since they forego stereotypes (Norns seem pretty stereotyped though).  Anyway, since I cannot get a Dwarf fix in GW2 who has the best dwarves?  Is it Rift, LOTRO, WAR or something else.  Best for me means best character models and overall atmosphere be it classes, sounds, dialogue, etc.

Thanks!

Yeah Lotro for sure.  If you don't want an mmo there are plenty of single player lotr games available also .

Everyone should try Dragon's Dogma if you haven't already. I wish MMO's had more in common with this game.

Warhammer is in the process of shutting down.

LOTRO hands down. You will get more dwarven lore than you can handle too.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

Another pair of hands down ( :) ) for LotRO.  Khazâd ai-mênu!

(but I still prefer hobbits ofc)

WoW does the silly Dwarven stereotype really well.

If we are talking themepark mmo's, then it's wow. no one does themepark better. Unfortunately sandbox mmo's usually are very low quality production wise, so that search goes on.

Only ever played human in Lotro, but I do agree that the dwarfs in WoW are a great bunch of characters. I only played a little bit of dwarf shaman in my WoW days, but the dwarfs I came in contact with on my human paladin gave me a few chuckles.

On the eternal quest for that one perfect MMO.

They are the original dwarves after all.

So, LotRO for traditional dwarves, Morrowind for the best irregular dwarves.

Stuff like WoW is just a laughable imitation.

Dwarves come from very old Germanic folklore.  They weren't a Tolkien creation in the slightest.

They aren't any better in any other MMO. LotRO was the most recent game to feature Dwarves. And the lore and flavor are more important anyway.

Dwarves as they are seen in modern fantasy books and games are directly taken from Tolkien.

It's similar to how you can tell a game is a WoW clone. Sure EverQuest had many of the same features as WoW, but its easy to tell when a game is copying WoW and not EverQuest.

Neverwinter has dwarfs. I play Dwarfs too. I feel EQ: Next will be a lot like GW2 in game play except they WILL have Dwarfs.

Overgeneralization.   While reasonable in the majority, there's always the Nordic mythos roots to draw on.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
