So Garrosh goes back and creates a parallel time line that now exists in our dimension concurrent with the Outland time line... and the reason it's a threat to us is because they've managed to backtrack Garrosh's time signature and create a stable portal to the present with the intent of conquering Azeroth next... Right?
Doesn't that kind of fly in the face of everything we've done for the Bronze Dragonflight? How is time travel all of a sudden creating parallel time lines instead of the way it worked before?
Aside from the various questions about how, why, and when with all the time travel, it should be cool for Thrall to meet the family that he never got to know. I'm a sucker for that kind of father son reunion story.
Because the Star Trek reboot was successful.....
Snarkiness aside -
Something in the article ; the portal to outland is now red and goes to Draenor....I'm wondering are they actually bypassing Outland all together now ?? - effectively removing the expansion save for the starting zones?
They'd have to have some way to get levelers from 60 to 70, so maybe I'm wrong.
But thinking about it, Outland is also Outdated. They may be preparing to do a 'cataclysmification' of BC to bring its lore in line with the main storyline....
Total speculation, but I still wonder....if the green portal is now red.....how would you get to Outland?
All this "time travel makes no sense" nonsense, we don't know the story yet, there will be a patch prior to the expec that I am sure will explain the how and why. For now that's just enjoy the fact that WoD is looking like a very nice expansion for those still interested in Warcraft giving players some of what they've asked for.
I like all these comments about how Blizzard has FINALLY listened to their player base. Are you kidding? That's all they do. They listen to all the whining from the avg player hence where the game has come from to where it is, and where it is going. This game can't get any easier. It was the easiest MMO I ever played back in 2004. Now you can lvl to max lvl in days. (well in minutes when you can bump your fresh character to 90 up on creation. It is made for the avg player base (see those who complain the most for changes so they can compete) the hardcore players left long ago. Blizzard imo has made the best mmo ever. I had fun in EQ, but you wont see me going back to that dated game. I play WoW off and on, but I will be here till the servers shut down.

The only difference between these items that they are merging was primary stat (int, agi or strength). The game already decided the best stats for you and disallowed rolling on items that didn't match your loot specialisation. All this is doing is removing the item bloat from having Shaman for example require agility mail and intelligence mail.
Also having more meaningful choices for items is better than the current system. The best gems / enchants are a no brainer and don't really add any meaningful decisions to the game.
The direction they went with the talent trees was far better. While some are lacklustre, many provided viable options, rather than the old system where everyone got the same spec.

Well in Cata everyone got the same spec, because there were literally no options. It was a talent tree without any choices. Throughout vanilla, bc and wrath there were lots of different specific use specs for everything from soloing, aoe farming, pvp niche specs etc... etc.. etc... When it came to end game raiding you had cookie cutter specs, but end game raiding is not the entire game by a long shot. The only thing the new talent toggles did is completely remove meaning from the system. It is basically a load out system not a true talent system. Instead of taking the lazy path of ditching the system they should have fixed the problems with the old system. Talent trees done right is a far more flexible deep and interesting system, Blizzard was just too lazy to try.
"First, the reforging system is being removed from the game entirely. Also being removed are hit, expertise, dodge and parry stats. If you’re a tank, don’t worry, Blizzard is adding a bonus armor stat to a few items and you’ll still be able to dodge and parry but they will no longer be stats on items."

... now that character customization is finally sterilized to the point of extinction we can go back to playing gauntlet.

wake me up when stamina increases healing power
Yeah, what this guy said. +1
What he didn't mention was that new stats were replacing those being taken away,
speed (run speed)
life steal (convert % of dmg into ife)
Avoidance ( reduce AE damage)
Sturdiness (Durabillity)
Cleave ( Increase AE damage)
Personaly I hated reforging, everytime I get some gear I have to reforge it to YUK!
You don't have much choice over building your characters play style up in Mop and they seem to be lowering it even more in WoD. The current talent tree has abilities that are no brainer choices as well, because some of them are so useless, depending on your spec, and if your doing PvE or PvP.
.
If blizzard wanted the trees to be more played with and customized to how you play, they should have made it so, each talent has the same level of worth. What i mean by this, if you go in to a shop and want to buy some chocolate ( talents), you can only buy one (talent point), they all have their own unique tastes a flavours ( playstyle), but what ever you pick will provide the same level of enjoyment (usefulness/bonus). What i trying get by this is when you pick any of the three talents in a tier, it should provide the same level of usefulness as the other two. So if i'm a shaman healer and i'm picking my level 90 talents, i should be able to pick any 3 without having to think what will benefit me the most, they will all be as useful, the only thing that it will affected is the play style as each talent will provide a different way of playing my spec. this can work with gemming/enchants/reforging. But it seem they have gone with the simpler version where it's all done for you
.
There is quite a few things i don't like in this patch, also wished they would have fixed leveling to make it fun and intresting, but i guess the insta 90 is a band aid for that . Il give it a go because i'm not a closed minded person and i always give things a try, but i do feel it will have the same affect as MoP, play for a 3 months then just leave
All of these PvE itemization changes, housing, number squishing, etc. look like wonderful ideas. I know several long-term (8+ years) players who are going to be very happy with all of this.
I'd come back if it weren't for the horrific changes to PvP they have made since MoP dropped, and it looks like none of that is changing for the better. 72% damage reduction handed out to Everyman, for zero effort, is just too much for me to stomach. If they'd focus just a little bit on bringing PvP back somewhere close to the state it used to be in (before this ridiculous damage reduction even existed), they may get back even more people.

Originally posted by Gravarg ....you have to pick a role as a Druid and stick with it, which isn't what Druid's should do. If there's one thing that's missing is Druids should be able to have 4 spec spots or at least 3 That is the druid's main role, to be able to do everything.
Only thing I really miss since start are multiple spec. After long time we got dual but that is simply not enough. Maybe for rogue or priest 2 is acceptable, but for sure not for alts like druid, paladin, ... or any other class that can fill multiple roles. But even with rogue would like to have more ... just for sake of being fun, being able to change builds to experiment, .... I'm really sick of constant changes to toolbars after respec.
I miss the old talent trees, but I will also admit that there really wasn't any choice in them - every class of a spec that wanted to participate in raiding pretty much had to follow the officially approved template.
The same thing goes for reforging, gemming, and enchanting now (and pretty much always did.)
The system at heart was designed so that you could choose to have more constant, steady damage (haste, mastery in some specs, hit/expertise) or have more "bursty" damage if you liked to see big numbers (crit, mastery)
or you could have big heals or lots of smaller ones, focus more on raid healing or tank healing
or focus on avoidance or EH (effective health - mitigation + raw HP)
but it failed utterly.
The content had enough difficulty and there was enough competition in the community where every last % of damage/healing/survival was parsed and sim'd out with exacting detail.
They are trying to go back to the heart of the design - give players more meaningful choice.
That meant blowing away the talent trees and trivializing glyphs.
That means item squish and a restructuring of primary/secondary stats.
Will they succeed in hitting the goal? Giving players more meaningful gearing choices?
Probably not. Blizzard dreams big, and only sometimes hits the mark.
But it IS a step in the right direction.
And there has always been gloom/doom every time they change or simplify something - but the top 1-10% still parse and still sim and the elite are still elite.
And really at the end of the day, a better play with less than optimal gear/spec/stats etc. will always, always out perform a worse player with more optimal stats.
Has been true since 2004, is still true to this day.
99% of players who aren't pushing world firsts and heroic content will notice 0 difference they couldn't get by improving their timing or rotation or cooldown use or positioning etc.

As for the removal of reforging, judging by the response when they went through all these changes, almost everyone at Blizzcon was very happy with the changes, especially the removal of reforging. One of the loudest cheers was when they announced the removal of reforging. Blizzard is catering to those who went to Blizzcon, so I gotta say they're catering to the most die-hard of fans, some of which spent thousands of dollars to go.
I think this expansion is good because it takes it back a bit. It does simplify things but with the way things are currently I don't see that as such a bad thing. I for one will be focusing on the lore, crafting and gathering like I always have and leave the PVP and raiding for those who are into those things.
I just came back to wow after missing most of the end of cata and 5.1-5.3. I am having a blast right now after spending a lot of time playing other games.
ATM the only thing that bugs me is the instant 90 boost. It completely shuts out the early portion of the game and will really only cater to alts, achieve hunters and completionists. IMO, if a boost was necessary, they should have made it to 60 or 70.
anyways, if anyone is interested in a scroll of resurrection, PM me.
Oh my dear sweet lord... And here I didn't think they could manage to dumb the game down even more...<double face palm>
In times to come, when Blizzard has managed to lose even more millions of players for WoW, will his Divine Devness, Ghostcrawler be held accountable for his crimes?... Just make certain that he doesn't escape his trial into the past, and show up in 2004... ^^
Is this 2005? Sizeable amount of positive comments for WoW news on MMORPG? Color me shocked! But in all seriousness this is a big deal for WoW, and I will be happy to play this expansion - it sounds like a good compromise between new and old.

I'm not sure I'm reading the same thread. All I see is mostly people who are upset, people who are meh, and a few people pumping it up to try and get people to take their scrolls of resurrection.
Honestly it seems entirely too early to tell, and when Blizzard was asked about their plans to carry over Garrisons in further expacks they just neatly avoided discussing it. Housing isn't housing if it is only for one expack. At this point you have people letting their imaginations run wild some imagining a perfect utopia and others imagining a burning lake of fire in the 12th layer of hell.
I am very happy to hear that Blizzard is listening to the player base that stays in the game through thick and thin for a change. I am all for the housing and playing BC before it happened. I did not get to plat a lot of BC when it was active as an expansion, however went back and played all of the lore and loved it. I think I had more fun doing that, then a lot of other things I did while getting my original loremaster on WoW.
I have always enjoyed following lore in the games I play. To me that is all part of a good RPG whether it be an MMO or otherwise. I will be returning as soon as I can. I have not been able to play for a while due to computer issues and such, so I am really looking forward to getting back to my guild and pulling it back together before the ex-pac.

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
What he didn't mention was that new stats were replacing those being taken away,
Did reforging actually give 'choice' to players?
Of course not, there was a 'This is what you do!' min/max website that you went and was told how to reforge your items.
It wasn't a choice between apples vs oranges, it was a choice between a normal apple and a rotten apple.
When choices become 'traps' for players to be bad at, something isn't right in the game design.
And ROFL at the 'this doesn't make sense!' lore argument.
WoW has talking Pandas / Cows and a dragon that can send players through time.
The Old God / Bronze Dragonflight did it!
