Farlan, courtesy of their PR guru Jason Ovitt, has provided us with another look inside Dark and Light. This week's interview focuses in on Settlers of Ganareth - their prequel/beta - and some game specific issues.
MMORPG.com: Recently your prequel Settlers of Ganareth was released. How has the beta gone from your perspective? Can you talk about some of the troubles youve faced and some of the pleasant surprises youve had?
Farlan: Weve been warmly surprised by the success the Pioneer Offer encountered. We knew that we had an active community, but given the delays and the lack of communication we are suffering, we couldnt imagine that the packs would get sold that quickly.
We had to face troubles with confirmation emails (payment, Pioneer member confirmation) that where sent with delays, due to crowd control problems during the rush for Pioneer positions.
Weve been really happy to see that the new Pioneers where proud with their number account: most of them now post on our forums with their Pioneer Numbered account!

Well i don't care if it is a 6 month beta...as long as the game is not to bugged, I will be happy

does it really matter all games get the same u all have preorder! if they where struggeling for money why would it be a limited number?
in an all around aspect they hooked up the people who preorderd the game.

So Sophora have you played the game with it's most recent updated engine?? if so i asume you are a betatester or one of the developers coz there is no way you can tell by a screenshot how the gfx is ingame.
Or maybe you are playing SoG like me but with an old TNT2 card or something? I'w played this game a few days as a settler and let me tell you, The gfx is not bad quite the oposit they are exelent for an mmo of this size. No it dosn't have the gfx of the newest singleplayer games but if you want that go play HL2 or something
Or maybe you will prefer that the game was built on 200x200m zones instead :P
Okay -- how in the heck can you get an interview of an event that did NOT take place? Your article is dated 12/05/05. The settlers, after SEVERAL delays , and then only a FRACTION OF THE NUMBER OF SETTLERS, were then able to spend a few minutes, after SEVERAL MORE HOURS delays, to at least log in on 12/12- 12/13/05.!!!! How can they give you an answer to something and expound the glories of it when it HADNT EVEN OCCURED AT THE TIME OF THE INTERVIEW!!!
Release of the BETA , which they touted was NOT a BETA in the SOG FAQ and Dev's Q&A, was a miserable foul. Those that were lucky enough to get in for the few minutes finally figured out how to fly since there was nothing else to do. Couldnt even move due to the traffic. No quests. No directions/instructions. ONLY thing to do was try and figure out how to fly your dragon. THEN SERVER CRASH. A gift to thier loyal fans? Jeez, with friends like these, who needs enemies?
Since then, SEVERAL DAYS WORTH OF SERVER PROBLEMS, LOG IN PROBLEMS with more than 70% reporting only 1-5 hours actual playing time since 12/12 - 12/13 two weeks later.
Face it. They flat out lied. They are lieing now and the bs is getting so downright thick its almost funny now. The load of crap they are feeding you is just that. A load of crap. Take a look at the DNL boards. It tells the whole sorry story. This game is a total bust and the dev interview is busted.

What kind of marketing strategy do they use to make people believe that this game is gona be something revolutionary ???
Just look at the way characters are made...i can do better if i whant in 3dsmax. Look at the way characters move...they have no artistic touch...
they just got some money...bought the engine made some changes in it and now they're tryin to sell this sh*** to us...
Yes they had some nice ideas, but they didnt make a step further for making them real...
