Im trying to install Quake 4... this is by far the most frustrating thing I have ever installed (besides BF2... thank god they patched up all those bugs after a few patches)
Alright, it acts like my CDs are defective... if it even reads them, its always running into issues with files
Did anyone else have these kinds of problems with this game?
i play on australian servers because racism is acceptable there

I'll post a pic of the message I get... just gimme a sec I got to wait for it to pop up again.
DMA setting was already set.
Perhaps a faulty disk?
Wow this is really angering me how hard this is to install
The only reason that I doubt that it truly is faulty is because i have gotten to the part where it asks for disk 3 (the climax of the installation???)
http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp download
use and clean everything (dont worry it wont remove anything needed)
reboot then try
if not then its the disc, is it scratched?

Don't click here...no2
thanks,
I just DLed it. I'm going to run it after this attempt
The problem is my CPU speed, apparently.
CPU Speed
Minimum: 2 GHz
You Have: 1.5 GHz Performance Rated at 1.8 GHz
FAIL: Sorry, your CPU Speed does not meet this minimum requirement. It may be time to purchase a more powerful computer to make your life easier. Click the 'We Recommend' button to discover how you can.
I am sorry I am a complete computer noob, I know every time a game doesnt work I come to you guys
but just bear with me please lol
So what should I do to speed it up? I used the nZone system requirements lab and everything seems up-to-date except the speed. Any suggestions?
OVERCLOCK
or you can just upgrade or get a new computer.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
There should be a way around that, but you can try overclocking just for that message so it passes by then set it back to normal. I wouldn't reccomend that though. I am getting that game and I hope I don't have the same problem since my processor is an AMD64 3000+ 1.8ghz
So a new processor would fix my problem?
The error message says it can't read a file from the cd, so the problem is not in the cpu at all. There are different possibilities here:
a) the cd is faulty
b) the cd drive is starting to fail, and it has trouble reading that one cd
I suggest you try to make a copy of the cd, and try to install using the copy. If your burning program can't read the disc either... well, there's the problem.
If the copy cd keeps giving you the same error message on installing, we have run into:
c) big baddy thing. A faulty memory can lead to errors when reading a file from cd. You can try going into your computer BIOS settings and selecting "Safe settings", it may alleviate any problems from a bad configuration or from a bad memory module. You can also try deactivating DMA access from your cd drive.
Good luck
