I hope that within the first couple hours of play, you don't spend 90% of your time finding hidden items rather than smacking enemies. And on that note, I hope you don't have to "Go kill 10 sheep", and "Find 3 hidden ancient keys to unlock a door to kill the 10 sheep."
I hope that the combat is responsive and fun, not "jousting" style like DarkFall where every runs around like a chicken with their head cut off.
I hope they don't try to make it look/feel like Skyrim but fall short of it. (except the combat, I wasn't a huge fan of Skyrim combat, felt bland and boring.)
I hope that the armor looks like it is actually ON the character, not a part of the character's skin.
I hope it has meaningful PvP, with decent rewards and incentives. I haven't read much about it, but things to fight over would be nice. Not just a battleground with "hold the item and score points."...heck even a stright up deathmatch would be wonderful, but for some reason most MMOs don't want to include battlegrounds with the only incentive being to slay the enemy team. Who REALLY wants to carry around some idol and dodge enemies to rack up points?
I hope that they don't forget to include social things, such as mini-games, card games, side games. Something fun to do with friends besides run the same dungeon 10x in a row for a piece of gear.
I hope that the racial "epic" armor doesn't look terrible on Argonians, because that's what I want to play.

Time will tell! No matter what, I hope it isn't a WoW clone.
edit: not that WoW is bad! I just want something different!
Death is nothing to us, since when we are, Death has not come, and when death has come, we are not.
It definitely isn't a WoW clone.
It is however extremely similar to Neverwinter MMO.
I think that's pretty much what is called for but most people can't do that.
Not to say people can't have their taste and preferences but too often they don't do research and expect that the game (any game) will be what "they" want instead of what was delivered. This tends to color their reactions.
Several times on this site I've seen posters go ballistic about a game being x and y only to then come back some time and make that statement that they just logged in, set their expectations aside and are having fun.
Or in some cases realize the game is still not for them but recognize that it's decently made.

I hope you are prepared to have more than a few of your hopes dashed headlong into a brick wall...I count 4 of them that will be with one of them that is highly subjective and based on the individuals personal opinion which comes down to what YOU think, and one more that is unknown at the moment because it isn't even in game yet.
See, I answered WITHOUT breaking the NDA!

That's a very tough thing to expect, especially with such a beloved and established IP. You have to consider that many players are coming to this game having played the series for 10+ years. In some sense, Zenimax is banking on that affection, and in doing so have obligated themselves to satiate at least some of those expectations.
As for myself, I've played the series since Morrowind and have longed to explore the whole of Tamriel. From what I've played so far, it's a good game. However, I am concerned about content not being there at launch - like historic zones. The faction lock is another deterrent. I think those things can be overcome, but this game has uphill climb to win people over.
I feel sorry for you when you finally play the game. Grab some tissues.
Neverwinter's combat is actually visceral and exciting, ESO's? well lets just say I wish it was more like Neverwinter.
Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!
Subscription Gaming, especially MMO gaming is a Cash grab bigger then the most P2W cash shop!
Bring Back Exploration and lengthy progression times. RPG's have always been about the Journey not the destination!!!

One could be called finite, the other infinite.
A finite game is played for the purpose of winning,
an infinite game for the purpose of continuing play."

IT GW2 with a elder scrolls skin. If you thought DFO's combat was jousty then you probably won't like ESOs.
Games:
Currently playing:Nothing
Will play: Darkfall: Unholy Wars
Past games:
Guild Wars 2 - Xpiher Duminous
Xpiher's GW2
GW 1 - Xpiher Duminous
Darkfall - Xpiher Duminous (NA) retired
AoC - Xpiher (Tyranny) retired
Warhammer - Xpiher
think more along the lines of rift and neverwinter having a deformed baby. but, it is nothing like gw2.
The so much criticized combat is actually THE selling point for me.
No tab-targeting and realistic non-flashy combat alla Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim is just what my MMO doctor ordered.
I've been waiting on a MMO with this kind of realism and combat since Morrowind.
AoC came close to it but the combo mechanics were still meh.
And god knows we have more then enough of unrealistic acrobatic flashy headache inducing combat MMOs, especially the asian ones.
Anyway, I can't allow myself to miss out on a TES mmo I have to check it out.
I care about your gaming 'problems' and teenage anxieties, just not today.
I hope its less like NW and more like Skyrim, I find NW combat to be too spaztic and non fluid.
That sums it up. But i would lower it from average to, a bad clone of some popular games.
lol, cant wait to get your reaction to TESOs combat then cause NW is closer to Skyrim in that regard...and NW ISNT close.

I hope that ESO doesn't receive a throng of nda-breaking pinheaded ninnies looking to freeview for the beta test.
Oh, too late for that as well.
It will hardly be a traditional MMO, but it will have influences of them. The combat will be vastly different as well as the crafting system, Point of view and mechanics in general.
Albeit, it will still feel a lot like an MMO, I'm sure. Which in my opinion is a good thing, but that's just my opinion. I prefer not entering games like SWTOR which was essentially an average MMO with brilliant voice acting but not much else. If I want to play a game for the story, I play singleplayer games.
Heh, in saying that I just realised that I will very much be playing TES:O for the story too, but that's only because I'm a massive lore enthusiast. Still, I don't want to play MMO's that are essentially singleplayer games with some random people running about.
Oof...sorry to hear that. Prepare for disappointment.

My friend you are in for a wonderful surprise.
All i can tell you is. Play it =]
And why's that? Plotholes? Yes. But it's the universe mate. Do tell of what horrors awaits me. They still have the original devs helping them with the lore and what not. Sadly not with the game design. Please enlighten me with your lore related wisdom, oh great Doomsayer!
To make it clear, what I'm trying to say is: Come back when you've played the game. I will, and if I'm not satisfied, so be it. Bit too early to make such assumptions. Speaking of assumptions, evidently, you've been trashing TES:O for quite some time. I'm rather sure someone with that attitude wouldn't have entered the beta, or played it for that matter.
Have a nice evening, Troll.
You are months too late and the only thing protecting this game is the NDA. But as every major TES fan site has pointed out, if the very premise of the game is based off of breaking the lore, there is no end to what else is being broken.
1. There were not three alliances and one them that did exist never lasted long enough to do anything.
2. The Empire was attacked only ONCE from the time of assassination of the last protector of the Empire until the time of Syptim and that attack was stopped at Marrowind, never reaching the Empires lands.
3. Syptim is the one that attacks the Empire and unifies the lands.
This game is based on attacking the empire, taking it over and voting a player to become the new emperor, all hail Legolaazzz the 1st. Also, the developers themselves stated that they chose this time period because it was covered the least and gave them the most room to bend it to their base game design...so, come back when you have played the game because clearly you haven't been beta testing it.

Haha, stop telling his poor fellow lies.
My best advice, (as a former beta tester) for all those that haven't tested ESO yet is do not raise your expectations of what this game is/suppose to be. By no means even try to compare it to any of the other Elder Scrolls games or you will be very disappointed.
As far as paying a monthly fee for this title like $12 or $15 a month when it releases, forget it not unless they revamp many of the core features which is highly doubtful. More like $5 a month and I would consider it.
