LF game, good community. Good end game 5man content.

PVP: Not important, used to be. Just doesn’t do anything for me anymore.

PVE: I enjoy end game instance gear awarded by points or tokens. So you walk out with something and don’t have to run instance X 285 times hoping for that drop.

Raiding: Hate it, don’t want anything to do with it. Never had a good experience with it.

Content: Prefer a more old school feel, longer time investments to accomplish something. Nice to have, not a critical

Community:  Friendly a must.  30+ in age would be awesome but unrealistic

Games I’ve enjoyed

FFXI(2003) – first mmo, loved it. Reached 54, LFG for three and a half months couldn’t find a group, left. Came back later. Rolled BST, reached 55. Spamming on forums in game for a little over a month for help to unlock level cap quest.  No luck.   Considered going back again recently , from research didn’t like the changes they made. Choice is off the table.

Linage 2: First PVP mmo, only fun I had was turning red and killing people at level 30,  found the lack of quests and content generally boring, but opened my eyes to PVP and all mmos thereafter had to have PVP in it to entice me. Also the music was pretty awesome.

EQ2:  Technical problems, 2 different PC’s also two different geographic locations multiple ISP tried. I would always disconnect every time I zoned.  As a computer tech for the last 16 years I can say with clarity it was an issue on Sony’s end. Sony Tech Support wouldn’t take ownership or read the communication, just reply with cut and paste auto responses that were not applicable.  Also many faction rep grinds are required, time I’d get there everyone was done and you could not progress any longer, no groups available.  Raiding was still an option, but I don’t enjoy that type of content.    Felt the original crafting system in the game was awesome.  I really got in to it, only game that enticed me in to crafting it was quite good.  As far as the new one coming out, the target age range for it isn’t a good fit for me.  Might research at later date on technical issues and community and give it a try based on findings.

EVE: Cool for a while, content get’s stale after while.  Logistics and time frame to have a fair fight encounter is too time consuming.   Learned a great deal about market manipulation and took the most of this game in terms of analyzing market structures and turning profits.

WOW:  Enjoyed this immensely when it first came out.  Left after “panda’s” were being introduced, that’s not for me.  Shortly before BC came out the community started taking a noise dive as the game appealed to kids and brought them in droves.   Community is unbearable and the game went in to a direction that is totally unappealing to me.   Prior to that however, I enjoyed most aspects of the game. Had a lot of good times.  I would rank this as my favorite experience up until the community started to shift. Had a blast.

FFIVX:  I enjoyed it, liked the fact they had token gear for instances end game. Even though there was only 2 instances people ran, I was perfectly ok with that.  I was chugging along doing well and enjoying myself, when my account was flagged and locked for “my protection” after they got hacked. Automated on-line system to remove the lock wouldn’t address my account. After three weeks, 14 e-mails and 3 hours on the phone, (after 42-55mins there phone system disconnects you) I was forced to cancel.  I finally did get a response, the response was “call”.   Customer service is only open during normal business hours when most people work, burnt many lunches calling with no one available to ever answer the phone.   It’s too bad, I saw great longevity for me on playing that game.

RIFT: quite a few friends are in to it.  Gave it a good college try, Just couldn't get in to it.  Reasons why is long and too granular.

Any suggestions on any existing or upcoming MMO's you feel might be a good fit?

Thanks!

RIFT is about the only choice, although I hear WOW has other end game options now, but nothing like RIFT

if there was anything else, we would all be playing it.

heres to TESO or EQN as the saviors

Have you tried Guild Wars 2?  It lacks a trinity system, but the classes still have unique roles to perform in groups.  The top two tiers of gear are obtained through token systems, crafting, or buying from crafters.  The only thing similar to raiding is fairly easy and is just a zerg-fest to kill bosses for loot that is optional but usually beneficial for leveling or salvaging/selling.  The time investment is on a moderate scale, depending on how invested you get into the game.  The community is generally friendly or anti-social, but rarely rude outside of the main cities and starting zones.

For something less than AAA, Runescape offers an interesting and diverse set of content.  The community is filled with kids due to it being free-to-play, but if you subscribe, you can avoid most of them.

The Secret World might also be worth looking into.  I never reached end-game in it, but I think it used a token system instead of relying on randomized drops.  I can't be sure, though.

There might be other Asian or F2P games which fit your desires, but those are generally low on PvE content quality.

Thanks for suggesting GH2, I did play that when it first came out. Reached cap and there wasn't much to do. Perhaps things have changed, a long time has passed.  Worth looking in to. Thanks :)

    Vanguard.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

I quite liked warframe for a while, it meets all the requirements on your list(I think), but is a co-op game not an mmo(4 man not 5 man too.

I'd say give RIFT another try maybe try a new build / class. I had a really really nice fast paced assassin setup that made me love the game more and more as I leveled up pretty great at PvP and PvE dps too.

Maybe i can suggest Perfect World International. Haven't found better game than that for last 5 years.

    - it may be old game, but they keep making new expansions and keeping it fun

-it takes really long time to get to max level which is 105, but most people stay at lvl 100 or so(there are rumors about adding reincarnations in next expansion). Game have lots of quests and quest chains which are fun to do. You most likely won't run out of quests till lvl 80 or so, game reduced amount of monster kills needed for quests and increased rewards so leveling is faster.

-10 different classes with no build and crafting restrictions, you can max all skills, max all crafting skills

-from lvl 5 can start crafting, from lvl 19 can start doing dungeons where bosses have chance of dropping materials for legendary items, from lvl 60 you get more dungeons to farm materials from bosses for gears.

-game doesn't really have raids. There are world bosses, but they don't drop anything so important that you can't skip them. some are soloable, depending on the class you play(no sharing drops! :) )

-community is ok, there are a lot of helpful guilds, many guilds have 18+ restrictions.

-even if you don't like pvp you can still go to nation wars and join the maps where you have to pick crystals, people tend to dig crystals more than pk others there and it gives nice money

More good features about game: Huge open world, able to fly/swim, fight in air/under water. Awesome character customization and tons of cosmetic items(hundreds of fashion items, mounts, flyers, cute pets, even weapon fashion and so on). Lots of daily quests(including bosses in dungeons), even low levels don't have problems finding squads or help. Very helpful community. Item mall gold can be sold in game thru auction house, so you can always buy anything from item mall with ingame money. Able to run 2 accounts at the same time, so you can always have merchant open to make money. As old as this game is the game on full grapphics still looks amazing

here is old video, they have added a lot in past few years, but you can get atleast some idea if you will like it or not.
