Ok i was wondering what game has the best crafting system and economy. So far, the most in depth i have seen was what was in effect in SWG but it was screwed over by SOE so i was wondering what the next best crafting system was in a game and it has to be a good game to. I was thinking EvE might be in depth, possibly a simple system like WoW but i don't want the crafting to be dependant on high level grind to get mats for making the items. SO any ideas? or am i screwed for now

PLEASE SOE MAKE A CLASSIC EQ SERVER. Shadow of luclin was a prick in EQs side. PoP Was a gun to the face.
Well, there's Horizons, but it's kind of junk...
Then there's A Tale In The Desert, if you're into it (no combat at all).
Otherwise, you're stuck with Eve, WoW, EQ2, or Ragnarok Online (or RO2, as it's due out soon).
I think EQ2 has the best crafting system out there. Because its not like wow get all the parts click and its done.
In EQ2 you have to make the hilt the the pommel the blade then put it all together and what not and it seems more interesting that way. As for economy idk. Wows its ok but easily youcan make excessive amounts of gold in a week which leads to ebays.

The crafting system in AO is pretty good, at least in my opinion.

A Tale in the Desert is crafting. You wanna craft all day long? Play ATITD.

No Userbar here, sorry to disappoint.
I miss DAoC
Eve gets my vote.
Re the grind.
Mining - You can place yourself anywhere in the supply chain. Thus its quite simple to buy in materials, or if your talking large scale sales, contract miners to work for you if mining dosnt appeal - you can raise capital via missions initially.
Skills - It takes time to get every last ounce of profit from deals, but there isnt a need to grind to get the skills at least.
EQ2 has a great one for provisioning. Harvesting in that game sucks to say the least.
EVE Online has the best economy I've ever played in. However, you're right, it's very in-depth...but that's what I liked about it. The harvesting bit was kinda dull, but the trading, buy/sell, asset management system kicked much booty.
EQ2 has a really good crafting system. You need to make the components before you can make the item (like making the hilt, blade, and pommel before you can forge the sword for example). It's a good subsitute for SWG (which had a great crafting system...but oh well). I don't find harvesting to be hard or painful in EQ2, just time consuming. Actually I find it kinda relaxing
I actually really liked the crafting system in Saga of Ryzom as well, the economy was kinda "so-so", but the crafting system was decent. Unfortunately the rest of the game outside of the crafting elements didn't really hold my attention.

EVE "Crafting" aka manufacturing isnt that impressive, but the economics and whole player run market is most complex I have seen. There is tons of possibilities when you do research on market. For example when I was new I searched medium mission runner system low sec and started to make ammo and missiles. Belive me I made lot better profit than these who sell in overpopulated systems and try compete with 100 other ammo sellers for 0.5% profit.
Cant wait when they add brading to eve so I can make set of leipuris modified 1400 howitzers.
