FF XI or Horizons?

Playin DAoC right now and kinda getting bored with it...wanting to know what the beta testers think of which one to buy, FF XI or Horizons. Also, for the beta testers of FF XI, I am curious as to the size of the world map compared with other mmorpg's. The limited amount of character creations kinda makes me iffy about getting this game, but if the game itself is good then that can be overlooked. I am a huge fan of the FF games on the PS and have wanted FF XI since I first heard of it, but want some opinions from people who have played it before I decide for sure. Thanks

to me it looks like FFXI will give you the advantage

Probably should go with FF if you are a fan of the series.

It should ship on schedule as its already been played in asia.

Horizons been pushed to dec 9th now and maybe further(always said it would not make that early nov date ).

So you have your free month at least to decide if FF XI is the game for you and if not then move to horizons.

I myself need a small break from MMORPGs and am quiting SWG once my subscription runs out at end of month.So this dec 9th date for horizons sounds like a good time to come back to MMORPGs.

So giving FF XI a miss.

Yeah I thought I'd be skipping FFXI fo HZ as well, then umm yeah let's just say things changed becuase of some hmmm, insight yes thats it

. Oh and will be very surprised, and scared if HZ comes out dec 9th.

If i had money in my pocket right now it would definitly go towards FF XI..... But i don't so i'm playing DAoC right now

Actually i would pick neither, i would pick WoW, it may not be releasing soon but i'm sure it won't be a dissapointment.

Horizons looks underdeveloped and will have a shacky release.

FFXI has been out for over a year + the American version comes with a HUGE expansion. All beta testers said they will buy it, including me. I only got in the last 3 weeks of beta - but you have my word this game is outstanding. Japanese players say it will be a #1 hit in America. There is no end to character development, unlike SWG *cough*.

I'm not being bias when I say this. On a 1 to 100 scale, FFXI comes up a 92 in my book. Grade A mmorpg, a classic.

It Depends on what u like

For example if i like traditional fantasy then go with Horzions becuase it follow the fantasy fairly well. Final Fantasy is a new style of Fanatsy so not really as traditional.

Final Fanatsy however has PVP and PVE elements to it (better than what Hozrions is). Horzions is going to be more like EQ focasing on the PVE side of things.

Really depends on what u want PVE / PVP or Tradition

As for FFXI it just plays too much like a console MMORGP since it is one anyways. Controls aren't that great and combat was rather boring. After spending years playing EQ at the endgame, FFXI just didn't excite me at all. The only thing I did like about it was the quests were somewhat fun and the cutscenes really added a nice touch to them. More MMORGP's should make use of that idea to give a more indepth feel.

Horizons doesn't really catch my intrest and for some reason I have a bad feeling about WoW...

I know what you mean about being tired of the same old EQ style, but FFXI is just so much different - me playing EQ for 3 years had no negative effect on my fun factor while grouping in FFXI or muchless traveling. EQ had no visuals to speak of. FFXI is a work of art, has "RPG by Square" written all over it.

I am playing Horizons....

I like my single player Final Fantasy games a ton..but think I will stick to that...at least for a while.
