So... no Black Templars?

I find it odd they they didn't include the Black Templars. When I first heard of the game's title, I thought the game was gonna be centered around them, given that they are THE crusading chapter in 40K. I mean their mobile fortress monastery is called the "Eternal Crusader" for crying out loud.

Not that i hate the four loyalist chapters included, i love em all (even the smurfs). And i am a big fan of their selection for the chaos space marine chapters (Night Lords fuck yes!). I guess they were going for 1st founding chapters, which the BTs aren't :(

The crusading chapter? I tend to think the Dark Angels or Grey Knights are the crusading chapters of choice the Templars didn't really catch on until 3rd edition when they got overloaded with cheese rules to make people buy more space marines. I think if you took a poll in general people would be happy  not to see black and white space marines all over the place. Plus from what I can tell this mmo seems to be based on One single crusade as in one large  battle in all of known space and in this scenario they have chosen mainly vanilla chapters and factions. It would be like if they did Armageddon 40k they would have those factions. I myself would like to have Angels Sanguine.

The problem with Black Templars are they do not allow Psykers in their ranks. So if bE wants Librarians as a SM class Lore wise the Black Templars wont work in this setup:)

I think this was the major reason to be honest. Even if playable psykers aren't an option at launch, I think if they wanted to make the game more 'future proof' (which lets face it, would be really stupid of Behaviour to not want to do) then this is for the best.

I wouldn't mind seeing them in some capacity though, and I certainly don't think they're more boring than the smurfs either.

Most likely that the blokes who created the BT have the rights for using them in Games reserved.

Would make sense after all you do not want to let others mess with your carefully created brand.

New codex states that they now *do* allow alliances with psykers. They just have none of their own, aside from their Navigators. I don't know why the devs overlook this...

BT lack of psykers would be trouble vs chaos. Plus don't the BT's have some other unit restrictions ?

Nope. They get all the Space Marine codex goodies, plus 20 man marine squads (10 marines, 10 scouts rolling together in a black tidal wave of holy sh*t)

And thats why I dont like that type of class choice.  Psykers equal to or outnumbering troops feels out of lore in itself.  I'd rather see psykers be a limited upgrade rather than classes, sort of like Battlefront 2 jedi.  The level of psyker could than be changed adjusting the deployment cost and psychic powers could be devestating.

I think it would be cool to see BT's get the emperors champion instead of psyker for a special deployment.
