    Got one awhile back too because I said FFXIV combat was a slow and crap version of WoWs combat. Still think that but I don't know sometimes I think warnings are random because another time it was alright to say it. Depends who presses the report button or not I suppose.

    You can take what advice I use. Rarely quote someone - they are bound to report you for something. Just type your opinion and try to get out quick. Recognize the people who get away with being a douche, they call names and make lots of noise and they quote everytime they post, it's all forum PVP to them.     Reddit is worse though, they can downvote you even when you are nice. I got some of it today, posted a link in a comment, got downvoted nonstop, deleted the comment so they couldn't keep dropping it, 3 other people posted the same link I did and got upvoted - who can explain it. Now I won't post in that subreddit at all lol The more moderation, the more I wander off usually. Last ban here I intentionally didn't post after the ban was up, I knew I could but figured, what's the rush. They are the ones that told me to stop talking, guess I get to choose when I start talking again.

    I already deleted my old account here anyway. It was back when I posted about how Asian subs weren't subs in the way we think of them at 15 a month in WOW. People were arguing with me nonstop calling me a liar etc and lo and behold everyone knows it's truth now. I even had evidence and links but back then, man you had better not talk down on WOW. Stayed away for years after that because every one of them I reported or ignored they just ramped up because I wouldn't respond to them adding more names to their next posts. I've never seen anything like that on a forum, it was like I beat a puppy and ate its eyeball while holding it in my toes.

    The site is public, either I read or read and interact, doesn't matter to me because I'm still going to keep my opinions whether I type them out or not.

    What is the first rule about fight club? Same is true about moderation actions.

    In fact forum has a list of rules, becoming familiar with them will help you learn how to properly frame your posts.

    Even I get an occasional warning, heck even a few bans back in the early days, but I've more or less learned to temper my remarks.

    Btw, if you feel you were moderated unfairly, send an appeal to MikeB and he will take a look. I've had a number reversed upon his further review.

    The way it works is simple, even moderators have games they like.

     

    If you get a message flagged and one of the mods that likes the game you said something bad about reads it he is gonna take action on you, if a mod that isn't a fanboy of that game reads it he will just let it slide.  Just how it is.

    I have been labeled with trolling by posting my Opinion. I am glad it's not just me because I felt as if I did what everyone else did.... SPEAK THEIR OPINION lol.

    Been banned a couple of times and issued a few warnings on top. Generally it is for offenses such as "asking a question" and telling someone to stop trolling because... well, they were trolling. Essentially after your first warning you will randomly receive additional warnings and bans for no real reason at all. At least that has been my experience.

    Sometimes I think I should be put behind bars.

    I get banned and warned constantly. I think some of the mods are not very well educated in some areas. I was discussing game hairstyles the other week and made a queer culture reference and was warned for hate speech lol. I mailed them explaining what queer culture and theory is and even provided links to queer culture and theory websites for further edification. But of course no reply. Oh well.

    To be fair, I get more hate mail from fellow forum members than I get banned and warned from moderators. So apparently they are more accepting in the grand scheme of things haha.

    In any two-party dispute, either can see the other as a "troll". It's the most abuse-able of all policies, and the least defined.

    The trick is a properly delivered bait-and-report; using the mods as a bludgeon confers special weenie thrill points, I gather.

    How do you measure "unpopular" opinion? People either won't post due to fear of being warned/banned. Then there are those that have posts deleted. What may be considered "popular", could be an illusion because only popular opinion is allowed.

    "Just follow the rules and nothing will happen to you". Ok, but Mod 1 is going to have a different interpretation of trolling than Mod 2. Sure, I'm sure MikeB and his peeps try to stay impartial and fair. However, sometimes human nature is an evil mofo...

    My rule of thumb is, would this OP or reply offend an over-sensitive wimp? I don't know how many post I've decided not to reply to after I've already had it all typed up.
