So I got the Oculus RIft to work with Outlast, and I just want to say, the fact that it has a body, and so many items are in the world, it really lends its self to VR. More developers need to do this, they don't even have to focus on supporting VR specifically but a few in-game changes can make all the difference -
Key-hole movement. A prime example of falling at the last hurdle (apart from its other faults) is X Rebirth, ticked a few boxes but really fell short on a free look option. Which is a fault regardless of VR, but with the modding community could have given us a game that would have been easy to get working well with third party drivers.
Above should be one of my videos, if you are lucky enough you already own an Oculus Rift and you can wear it and watch the video and get the 3d effect (might make you want to hurl though). One last thing to note is something that I hadn't anticipated. The cliché of looking away to check a hall way for a monster, and turning back to find it in your face, very doable with the Rift, and in Outlast I am constantly expecting it.
