MMO with Fun Grouping

City of Heroes was my favorite game, and a large reason for that was how much fun it made it to team up with others. You could almost always find a group of people to play with quickly, and you could keep running missions with them for as long as you wanted. Everyone didn't even have to be close in level. When someone had to leave, you'd say your goodbyes and then get someone else to join the group. As you were playing, you'd have fun chatting with everyone, sometimes coming up with recurring jokes that lasted for the whole time you were playing together. You'd often end up teaming with the same people on other days too. It was great fun.

I haven't been able to find that in any other game yet. I'm trying to like Champions Online, since it has superpowers and such, but I've yet to really have fun with anyone else. The only teaming I've experienced is for their instanced Alert things, but that just puts a random group of people together to button mash for like 3 minutes, and people usually never say a word. Then it's over and you never see them again anyway. In other games I've tried, about the only teaming is for "dungeons", which sometimes have nice people to play with, but often they're pretty much silent. And then once you get to the end, it's all over anyway.

So, does anyone have some suggestions on where I might find a more satisfying grouping experience? Thanks for reading!

I was going to suggest CO, but your already on that and can see how the grouping is..

Unfortunate fact is that those kinds of automated systems that are popular in mmorpgs nowdays have that culture of "no talking just Gogo".:(

edit: you might get an ok experience with swotor, you will at least get the "do you wana skip the cutscene conversation" usually if they don't you can have a good chat while you dungeon.

Sorry i'm not that much help.

The only one I can really think of is eve online.

Other than than ryzom was quite good for grouping, but that was a while ago and not sure what it's like now.  Also the pirates games(Uncharted waters would probably be the best of these atm) did a so-so job with mix level grouping.

if you wanna keep to heroes , I thought DCUO was great fun.   Granted,.the 'grouping'  may not be a good as CoH.  There are plenty of opportunities,..but as mentioned,.it tends to be a zerg fest.

I am playing DDO right now..and out of all the MMO's that I've played,..this one is pretty group based. They have recently made it more solo friendly though.  But the framework and design is there for groups.  Groups are encouraged for the full experience., many times needed or preffered.

DCU would be a good choice. Lots of the same types of people. The game isn't as good ( imo :P ) but it isn't bad either.
