Former RO veterans, what do you play now?

The MMO that I have the most experience playing is Ragnarok Online. I liked it because of its customization, including its card system and especially its stat system. I like that the game did not hold your hand and required skill to even kill porings, then levels later I could come back to Prontera and test my skill damage on them. I like that there were elemental resistances and weaknesses, so if I equipped a wind Claymore, you'd really see jelly fly. I miss having a Wizard that filled up the whole screen with an AoE spell. I miss that the threat on the map you were on wasn't a player killer, but a really badass MvP or miniboss waiting to charge unsuspecting adventurers. When I started playing, people were very social and helpful. It was easy to find a party to join, and I still keep in touch with some. Now with a lot of games I've tried, it's all about questing, Pay to win(Which also happened to RO), or starting a party randomly with total strangers instead of your guild. And instances....the damned instances separate everyone from each other. It's almost as if the games I see nowadays are the complete opposite from what RO used to be.

As you can tell, I really enjoyed the game, but it got boring. As I got older, I started to get tired of the flat graphics and craved to be immersed in something totally 3D and more epic. To this day, I haven't found an MMO I enjoyed playing half as much as RO. Tera Online came closest for me. I personally find that game extremely anti social. Sometimes people don't even talk. I was having trouble finding people to fight BAMs with. Then there's the PVP. Maybe I shouldn't have been on a PVP server, but where's the skill in max level characters killing noobs and preventing them from playing? Choosing an instance was like Russian Roulette. Will there be a PK or not? Let's see--GAAAUGH!!! Not fun. i prefer a social PVE environment, where the enemies are the monsters, not us humans. Limted PVP is acceptable though. I thought WoE and PvP rooms were a lot of fun.

Maybe it's just me hanging onto my memories, and I should have moved onto something completely different. For those here that used to play RO, What did you replace it with? Did you find anything that was an official upgrade from it? Thanks for reading.

I am also a former veteran that still holding on to those fond memories of RO. Don't you like how there were like over 150 skills to choose from for mages? Also how you can only master or learn a single strongest elemental to the max level. Those damn MvP each have their own elemental weakness and strength. You could even heal those boss/mini-boss with your elemental attacks.  Those were some fun moments.

Anyways, I still haven't found anything that could replace RO at the moment. However, I found out that Kim Hakkyu, the founding father of Ragnarok Online, created a mmorpg similar to RO called Tree of Savior. It said to have over 80 different classes to choose from. You should check it out. I bet you'll definitely like it.

According to imc.co.kr, Kim Hakkyu's site, he was posting a job for Global Community Manager related to Tree of Savior and one of the requirement is English, which is a must. Also on Steparu review it said "Community environment guarantees full anonymity.", it means that like when RO first started you have to find out about the game yourself from skills to where the quest are, to which class you can change to and how to travel to other town by foot. The game was known as "Project R1" on 2011 and was in the making 4 years before it even got the title "Project R1". I hope more RO veterans would come back to play this game. I even pm Doodler about this game if you guys know who he is.

I spent hours and hours on Doddler's stat calculators. He brought a new dimension to the game. I'm looking for an english game but I'll research the game you posted. Thanks.

Just to point out what makes RO special to me,  my favorite moments are when my perma Taekwon Boy became a Taekwon Ranker. My name was in the top ten list and I basically played like a tank-mage at that point, able to mob with unlimited AoE combos. He wasn't that strong or useful in raids, but I really enjoyed it anyway. Another moment, the Sign Quest. RO has very few quests, and most are hidden from plain sight. The Sign quest was weeks long and hard to find any information on it. A great quest to do with your guild and when you were done, you felt like you accomplished something. Totally not like these point A to point B quests nowadays.
