Okay batch of fresh 50s sign up to compelte a 44 dungeon...

the game makes them 46 levels since they are capped.

The game gives 1 hour to complete the dungeon.

So far everything is fight except one little thing; this is a pug and NO ONE has done the dungeon before ... period.

There is no newbie mode.

So here we are.... learning each fight... Learning each 4 fuck-ups and what not to do.

How is it beneficial to ANYONE to have a timer to completetion??

How about this fuckin timer - cancel this motherfucker ASAP

Dzemael Darkhold has a 90 minute timer just like all the other dungeons before it. I don't know where you got the 1 hour timer from, but it's incorrect.

Aside from the negligible repair costs, there are no penalties for dying. The timer makes it so that you cannot afford to throw yourself at loss after loss hoping to get lucky. It shouldn't take 90 minutes to complete a dungeon. If time runs out on you, chances are good that a.) you're not actually learning anything lessons from your mistakes, or b.) one or more members of the group are incapable of playing their role correctly due to lag, poor equipment, or lack of experience. In either case, there is no point in forcing the party to keep trying beyond the 90 minute mark.

(What is "newbie mode"? If you need practice, run the lower level dungeons.)

I suggest doing the guildhests if your party failed that hard at Dzamael Darkhold. Pretty much teaches you (while holding your hand massively) all the dungeon fight mechanics.

Yes, the above is true, If you have not figured out the trick that you need to know you get kicked out in 90 min BUT :

Here is the problem with FF14 dungeons. Yes they are fun. It's cool that you kave to know the TRICK for each one. However this kills re play value.

Fun becomes boring after you and your PUGs know what is needed.

    A good example :

Brayflox's Longstop ( level 30 or so ). Tons of fun with a cool dragon in a cave at the end......This Dragon is nasty, capable of killing a party like nothing.............That is untill your group learns the little tricks.

    Tank stays infront.

    Everyone else behind.

Stay out of the green the best you can

Healer cures poison on Tank and himself only, and heals the rest.

Done..........Infact too easy, and FOREVER as long as you play FF14

Every dungeon has its own tricks and once known the Dungeons are yours and easy forever !!!!!

Honestly, I feel the timer itself more so should be used as a "Speed run" timer, giving a bonus reward if you beat it before the timer is up. The only time I see it being good is if it "locks" you to a dungeon, particularly a hard one with that time limit being the time you have to try it (while inside not paused) for the weak. Only place I see timer for kicking you out being worth wild, otherwise it works I feel best as that 'speed run/extra loot' reward instead, perhaps cutting down the timersa bit  for that.

I've had several times where people wont even use the full 90 minutes.

The other day I was doing the temple of quaan. On the first boss, we wiped twice, depends on luck on that one. I think what happened to me was as soon as I ran across that room to get to the sqare to remove it, I got hit by final sting and died. Well anyways, right after that second wipe, 2 people immediately left. That caused me to hafta reque and wait over 30 minutes again.

Doing brayflox, well we wiped twice on that final dragon, and 2 people left again. Still had 30 minutes on the timer on that one...

That's what really irritates me about pug's. Even though I've beaten every dungeon up to WP several times, I still end up in failed groups that wont take the time to learn the fights. I still grind dungeons to level up alts though. That's just my biggies pet peve in this game. Peaple just don't have the patience like they used to in ffxi.

In ffxi, you would die ALOT doing end game stuff, and well everything in general, but people would keep trying and never give up. But these days its a different story :(

Every once in a while I do get that rare group that takes the full 90 min. just don't happen everyday.

Edit: PS. sometimes I wish they would make a lock system, that wont let you exit the dungeon until you either beat it or the timer runs out.

In FFXI there was something to promote speedruns.

The team with the fastest time to beat x dungeon got listed with the time taken and names of players dunno if they receive a reward too.
