We recently had a chance to sit down with DCUO's Jens Andersen to learn about DLC 9: War of the Light Part One. Read on for the full rundown!
As Jens explained to us, Part One will see the various Lantern Corps groups converge on Earth in a new version of Metropolis available to DLC owners. In Metropolis, players will notice various multi-colored prismatic mists weaving their way through the city’s streets, affecting the populace in a variety of ways. What is known is that these mists are somehow tied to the emotional spectrum that typically gives Lantern Corps members their powers. In one example Jens gave us, citizens encountering a red mist would then become enraged. Rage, of course, is the source of power for every Red Lantern Corps member.

oh a Tank powerset that isnt elements.
Finally
ASUS G74sx

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
Unfortunately I think the PS3's lack of ram held back what they could do with that regard. I know they mentioned eventually being able to do more with PC and PS4 if PS3 is ever phased out completely. We can only hope.
It was an MMO designed for consoles, so that's what you got.
Is Superman still an ice tanker?
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
I guess, based on the "Inspired by" version of character creation... let's face it, it's still better than a fire tank
Nice interview. I admit I never liked the "lanterns from the whole frikkin' spectrum" arch, GLC and Sinestro are more than enough. And maybe Larfleeze, his Christmas in-game event is fun
So story-wise I don't really care about this light wars, but gameplay-wise it sounds cool. The light powerset was a nice addition in the past, I guess it will be a good one this time too.
Ever think that just maybe the developers arent very good?
No?
Didnt think so.
The Idea About Rage, would be good, if Clipping Didnt Allow the Macros and Other Absurd Things to go Rampage, Like a Lounge and a BlockBreaker to happen Together(Lounges are Interrupt Moves that are Countered by Blocking, a BlockBreaker as the name says, Exploits Blocking, what happens when both happen together is a move that got no counter at all).
And To The Clipping Lovers who say it is a Increase in the gameplay, and that Fighting Games got Clipping, Dunno which games you have been Playing, but in my 20 Years of Experience on Fighting Games, Never saw true clipping, what I Did see was Buffering of Moves, what isnt the same.
In Clipping, you crop frames of a move.
In Buffering, you perform 2 or more moves, one after the other, usually after the hit collision, what is usually skipped, is the recovering frames, but most of the frames need to be done.
Yes, because you're exactly right. The PS2 didn't hold back FFXI for a lot longer than DCUO will last. And they cross-platformed the game since 2002.
I still play it as far as FTP games go its not bad by a long shot. It has a decent combat system and the pvp is pretty entertaining. What really hurts it to me is two things, they have put too much emphasis on holy trinity so everyone has basically the same powers one out of 3 times. Speed or flight fire, ice or magic etc. and it is weapons based which is stupid for some power sets like Green Lanterns. Which leads me to point number two the character creation is crap. It is below crap.
Champions lacks the combat and graphics but it gives all the cosmetics this game doesnt and player choice, put those two games together you just about have a complete game.
It's a very old debate indeed in DCUO which is coming up again from time to time...
I personally never liked brawling games (fighting ones in english, but our word for the genre is more like brawling - and fighting game sounds silly anyways ), but even I know that clipping is part of their gameplay since the early Street Fighters. That has a huge part in why I don't like those games.
And to be honest, at first I ditched DCUO as well, because it felt I'm forced to exploit to keep up the pace with the group. I mean when the healer does more damage than your dps, then you'll face some mocking comments at the end obviously
And I have to admit, I still don't like the concept, so I use only the most basic and easy clippings and chains. Somehow it doesn't feel right. But the devs stated numerous times, that since DCUO is a brawling game at the core, clipping is intended and part of the design. https://forums.station.sony.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/just-to-clarify-that-clipping-is-legit.50721/
In short, clipping is ok, but if you macro them or use a 3rd party stuff to exploit the chains, then it's not ok.
I play DCUO and enjoy it immensely. Im part of a high profile league in the game and have been playing the game since launch.
I agree with a lot of your points but there is a lot to like in this game, especially if you are a fan of the comic books too, which i am.
We put out a regular podcast for the game and on our most recent episode, we got the chance to speak to Jens 'spytle' Andersen who is the creative director for the game, and Ted 'Mepps' Stone, the community manager.
It was a long interview and they were very candid with us. Its easy to see from them speaking to us, how passionate they are about the game and how they really do listen to the community and try to address their concerns.
Here is a link to that interview anyway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQcTGy3q7Fk
Check it out and see what you think, they were great guys to speak to, and that really comes across in the interview.
There is a lot of information about whats upcoming in the game and its annotated in the comments too
In your Last Paragraph, you said the important part, because quite often, I see players who ARE using Macros for Clipping, his character wasnt actually moving, but you could see the damage happening, and just to finish, when did you see Ryu(one of the Oldest Street Fighter Characters) DONT do a move, and the damage happening, I never did, Calling DCUO a Fighting game(or Brawling game) its a joke, of the worst kind, since it feels more like an action game, then a fighting one, and even action games, got no clipping.
