Wildstar - for adults right?

Cartoony graphics nowadays will certainly be deadly to any MMO. No adult person wants to play that shit. Just think about an utter loser like that ridiculously childish and immature WoW with its cutesie pink pigtail gnomes and walking and talking cows and panda bears... oh wait...

Handholding is another issue. I quit WoW for several resons, one of them was the increased handholding during questing/leveling, which for me killed any sense of wonderous exploration. The linear questing type introduced in cataclysm (and partly alreachy in Lich King, were it worked finer though, as it was only the newly introduced areas, and they actually told some great stories, not that cheap wannabe funny Rambo/CSI/Indiana Jones shit).

I really hope that this baby type of questing is basically the tutorial area only, which is fine. Doesn't make that much difference whether you see a big arrow or whether some dude with an exclamation mark above his head tells you to kill 10 kobolds saying "you no take cande" that are just wobbling all over the place two steps away. So I'll have to wait and see what it will be when I leave the lowbie zones.

I love the Simpson's, family guy, American dad, Cleveland show, the boondocks, And maybe a hundred other cartoons... I'm twenty seven... I guess that means I'm immature?

I don't really understand what is here to discuss.... If someone does not understand satire using cartoons, then maybe he is not mature enough yet.

There are games like Conker's Bad Fur Day, or Leisure Suit Larry and shows like Family Guy and South Park that despite being cartoons, are directed towards adults and there is nothing wrong or childish about it.

Developers of this game try to direct this game to as wide range of gamers as possible, so there will be some things that only adults can understand and laugh about, but nothing too vulgar, so that younger audience can enjoy it too. What is so hard to understand in this picture?

If someone is so insecure about their maturity, that they are to affraid to play or watch anything cartoony, then maybe it is time to grow up.

Totally agree with OP. As everyone knows, mature people only play realistic games. There are never any kids in realistic games either, because they only play games like Ratchet and Clank and Pokémon.

I didn't like the big pointy arrow showing where to go, what I did like about it was you had to click a "link" to make that arrow show.

So geussing anyone into exploring will not use that big arrow.

First impressions aren't everything, especially with MMORPG.

Art style is for certain kinds of people, not kids vs adults.

Honestly im tired of the greys and browns, and srs business.  I want something vibrant and whimsical.

Heck I still love to watch cartoons at 28, far better and more creative, to me, than Gritty crime drama #3567, or Reality Show: Mocumentary edition.

It's a personal preference, nothing more, the game looks great to me, and some handholding in the beginning, I expect that, its how the game plays later on that matters.

    Well played...and totally accurate.

looks too... "Cutesy" for my liking, definitely aimed at a younger generation IMO, perhaps the same crowd that led wow astray? there's obviously different looks and feels for animation styled games but the truth is if it walks like Donald and quacks like Donald...
I don't care if the NPCs Swear like Sailors
I'd still feel too old for this.

My little 10 year old cousin thinks Call of Duty is a lot of fun. I think it's crap... must be for little kids. I don't know about you, but I played my first MMO when I was about 10 or 12 and that was Meridian 59.

Kids do NOT have any problems learning hard games. It's adults that have the issues. I had a much easier time figuring out games when I was younger lol. Now I want them to give me tutorials and spell it out for me haha.

MAYBE because this was only the tutorial/intro area and paths are irrelevent at this stage?  I swear, some people...

To the people saying that the game is easy and there is too much handholding:

First of all, you have only seen footage of the tutorial area.

Second, try picking explorer as your path. And have fun reading cluess as to where you need to find things.

Third, game becomes insanely harder after 14-15 lvl.

Fourth, crafting. Good luck to your 7 year old trying to level up his crafting.

Fifth, wait till you try out the dungeons and raids.

Sixth, if you dont want quest arrows, disable them and don't use them. I find challenge in pvp and in fighting hard pve content, not in trying to find where the quest mobs are.

Exactly. Explorer is way more timeconsuming and less handholding after you leave the tutorial areas.

I'm 28 years old and i love the artstyle and animations of wildstar. On the other hand i find Rift's artstyle and animations boring and generic. I don't know why people keep saying over and over that the game is aimed for a specific age or w/e , just because of the artstye.

It can be just their opinion.  But, usually it's just trolling/hating because it's not their "ideal" mmo.  I'm at the point where I just skip the redundant comments "looks like it's for kids" or " that tutorial area looks sooo easy, so I guess the whole game is".  I wouldn't even be surprised if its the same 5 people among several accounts.

I love the humour and style very much. I think the age thing is all in the mind I still enjoy at over half a century old road runner and looney tunes.
