Pirating MMO with real player crew members.

nourhalhoulnourhalhoul Member Posts: 3

I've been playing AC4 recently and the whole idea of having a pirate ship intrigued me. So I was thinking, are there any Pirate MMO's out there that allow you to have your own ship and the ability to allow real people onto the ship and fire cannons while you sail, and that sort of stuff. What I'm looking for is something similar to/and other than Pirates of the Caribbean online. Thanks. Voyage Century and Uncharted Waters have caught my attention, but I would like to know if they allow a real life crew on board before downloading them. If not, suggest any others?

I've already played Puzzle Pirates as well.. Wasn't my cup of tea.

Keep your eye's open for ArcheAge, it will have huge pirate ships manned by multiple people and you can be a pirate.

Right now Darkfall Unholly Wars has pirate ships that are manned but it is a very niche MMO since it's full loot and very PvP driven.

Yes as mentioned Archeage will do this and much more. There has been until Archeage,no competition in the gaming market,so devs get away with real lazy designs.Eve for example SHOULD have had multi player ships and interaction but even after all these years does not,as i said no competition for devs to do better.

Weather people like AA ore not,it imo EASILY the most aggressive and best effort for an initial release of ANY game EVER,yes miles better than Wow for those fanbois that say nay.

    Several videos here

I know Archeage does not have near the marketing tactics of other recent games, but it is imo a REAL Triple A game and deserves at least a decent try.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

For uncharted waters online, no. Only one captain per ship. I thought it was a very detailed and deep trading MMO though grindy as you reach the upper levels.

    Darkfall Unholy Wars

Crew members for repairing the boat and man the cannons.

Here are pictures of boats that are currently in game.

Here's a healer class who is taking the role of repairing (boat fight starts at 3:48):

    Here's the captain's perspective.

I know about Archeage, I'm still waiting for the NA version to come out and I've already  signed up for the beta. It's also got harpooning! Which I really love in AC4, so I really can't wait for it to come out.

As for Darkfall Unholy Wars. Big fan of a PVP, but personally, I think working together to fend off huge beasts and take on challenging tasks are more rewarding. Though sadly it's not f2p and the thing with me is that I always get bored from mmo's due to their lack of unoriginal content. Basically it's all go kill 20 boars, go loot 10 tusks, bla bla bla bla bla. Which is why I try and find an MMO with the most content. So far, stuck between Archeage, and Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 has an underwater world, harpooning, and etc. So..

I guess Archeage is what I'm waiting for. Thanks guys.

Maybe give Allods a look too - the game is Sci-Fantasy and the Ships are space based, however they require a full party to pilot.

It's pretty much endgame stuff so won't happen instantly (i Hear it takes several months for a guild to even craft the ship) but from what i've seen of it looks fun.

    Puzzle Pirates.

Ultima Online added a bunch of High Seas stuff a while ago, including piracy and other fun multiplayer maritime adventures.

Pretty much the closest you'll get to it is Darkfall Unholy Wars.

You literally have people roaming the seas, looking for trawlers loaded with treasure. When spotted, you board the ship, kill the crew, and steal the goods.

Pirate101 allows you to have people board your ship, but the ship owner only fires the cannons. Players on board your ship can help remove tokens that cause fires and other bad stuff one you are involved in a ship battle as well as help repair the ship.

When you look at the website, it seems like it is a game for kids, but I am an older adult who really loves this game. The combat is turn-based but each character has tons of different moves that actually are played out each move you make and requires strategy to win each battle. The ship fights are real time and there are tons of different ships to own with different upgrades to improve your ship.

Maybe watch a youtube video on the gameplay and check out the website. You can play for free through the first storyline quest (about three hours) and will get an idea of what the game is like this way without costing you any money. Just remember, the game gets way harder as you level up, and while some fights are pretty easy, there are lots of fights that are super tough, especially boss fight.

If you decide to try it out, PM me on here and let me know and I'll hook up with you in-game and help you out and show you the ropes. Here is the website link to some videos but youtube is your best bet for actual gameplay videos.

Puzzle Pirates is probably not what you're looking for, but it does require players who own ships to get other players to act as crew members in order to sale the ship anywhere, and you do often get into battles on the way there.  But none of it is realistic naval battles, it's all done through symbolically through minigames.

(I was actually furious and disappointed when I bought a ship only to realize I couldn't sail it by myself, but that's just me, lol.)

I want to help design and develop a PvE-focused, solo-friendly, sandpark MMO which combines crafting, monster hunting, and story.  So PM me if you are starting one.

I've played both Puzzle Pirates and Pirate101. Not my cup of tea. Puzzle pirates is basically a pay2win game and so is pirate101.
