This^ Not to concerned if its dead weight, Sorry to see peeps let go before Christmas but well it happens.
And "15 positions" doesn't equate to people, in any case. Maybe they trimmed some expansion plans, or removed some positions they were holding to 'promote' internal employees. It could all be a game of cards, or it could be up to 15 people with a holiday job termination.
Anyway, in Atlanta, who's going to notice another 15 people out of work?
Logic, my dear, merely enables one to be wrong with great authority.
Merry Christmas! You're out of a job!... Me thinks that the days of CCP actually caring about their own people, are long since past. Their suits have become little different from those of other corporations, mores the pity.
Didn't Sony back CCP into a corner with a console game plan that made the game for PS3 only to allow it to be made for their PS3? As in CCP could not port it over to other consoles if they wanted into the PS3 market?
Just wondering if what I read somewhere was accurate...

The only market that was interested in DUST was the PC market. Sony gave em money to NOT make what people wanted. Planetside 2 was good, but 80% of the game is in the shop. So it didn't make up for the loss of DUST on the PC.
I think DUST would have been more profitable on the PC and better for their Brand. I hope they made off with a lot of Sony money, because they sure passed up a lot.
I'm speculating of coarse. CCP is still one of people's favorites.

Isn't this a systemic problem with the USA?
I do agree. It shows CCP used to run a tight ship, but then decided to run a fleet and tried to grow too quickly? So the new hires get hired then fired, sadly at a bad time socially.
EVE, Dust, Valkyrie, WoD, that SOUNDS like waaaaay too much to be working on at once.
I think WoD could have been a success on a modest budget given it's more mature theme that imo the genre is craving for despite the mass market appeal of cartoon/friendly graphics and tame themes apparent elsewhere.

NO , CCP made this alone . Microsoft does not let allow anyone cross platform gaming with xbox and they want server control and finally microsoft does not let free updates . F2P game worthless to microsoft if it does not make money for microsoft and all other reasons pretty much made impossible dust on xbox (even valve wants its cut from F2P game stores now )
Sony gave money to CCP to make game and may be got timed exclusivity but dont blame sony for CCP's stupity and wrong calculations . Only one is to blame CCP not anyone else not unreal engine ( if it is wrong engine it is also CCP's problem ) or PS3 ( while there was one game MAG with 128*128 players ,it is stupid to blame )
These excuses from fans all of them wrong ,it is only CCP to blame

There wouldn't be any sort of announcement if they simply eliminated positions that didn't have any people attached to them.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.
Maybe those 15 positions getting the shoe were just so-called shelter jobs? People getting hired because their uncles friends cousin works at the place and CCP realized this was dead weight that needed to go?
One thing about CCP though is that they should be more revealing, communicative and less secretive or straight silent towards their audience. At least there should be better explanation how this affects - if at all - the production of WoD. No one really knows anything except hey, they booted some people.

Having trouble making up something news worthy? CCP is doing just fine. I think WoD is just a bigger project than they originally thought. Sometimes when the end of the project is still distant you tend to focus on things that actually bring in revenue first.
That's why I left Eve and classed it as nothing but a PK game. They sit there and sprout how they made it like real life... Pfft!!! if I wanted real life in a game I'd walk out my front door.
There is a business reasoning for firing employees before Xmas. You don't want people who are going to be out of a work soon to go spending money in the holidays as if they were still going to have a job, only to find out they are pink slipped January 8. That is arguably a crueler cut.
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
Possible apologies to Loktofeit, but I had heard rumours at the last WoD slashing that the Atlanta branch had, ah, seriously underperformed in some manner. Of course, some positions could just be done with any of their work until another phase of the project starts.

Translation:
If they are fired before Xmas the company saves money because there is no need to pay out any kind of Xmas pay etc etc. This is a pretty standard and shitty procedure that some companies do to save cash.

CCP is into hard core game development - and firing people during the holidays is hard core.
I'd be willing to bet they looted the guys they fired before they left, too.
This is the game I'm most looking forward to. Doesn't look like it will ever see the light of day.

what does it mean, will they cancel the game? will it come later? will it have a downsized feature set?
CCP should give out more infos
